    So on-brand...take him.

says his Memphis source. They’re getting jack squat for him and killing their player relations. Not playing chess...

naz beat me, but he’s extended. And also very important to their success in games when harden can’t get 20 ftas.

yes, we should have full mle available and won’t have the McGee/kcp odd contract situations. If we give up on the Giannis dream, we can take on some salary to improve until LeBron declines.

I still don't love his game that much. He is a decent offensive player but does not seem that good on defense. I also wonder if him coming back here might bring out some weirdness in him. Don't trust his resolve to be great.

He would have been a good fit offensively...he can do some high level things on that end...

We probably still would have had Rondo & Caruso; Dwight probably still signs; not sure about Mcgee, DG goes to Dallas....

In short, I still think we have a good team, but I can't complain about this one. I like the "dog" in these guys...

No way! D'Lo is an offensive talent but look at the Nets without D'Lo and Kyrie! What he did with the Nets had more to do with how weak the East is and the fact that the Nets really aren't that bad of a team. I mean, didn't Joe Harris shoot 47% from three last season? People point to D'Lo being an All-Star. Who couldn't be an All-Star in that weak East? Would he have been an All-Star in the West or if they only included the top 8 PG's? Hell no!

    Harden
    Westbrook
    Kyrie
    Lillard
    Kemba
    Steph
    Lowry
    Chris Paul

Then you have to look at what we wouldn't have if we signed D'Lo. Key pieces that have led to our 22-3 record. And don't forget that since D'Lo is a guard, he would likely be taking valuable minutes from the following: Rondo, Bradley, Caruso - three players who have been huge for us defensively and offensively as it is.

Then you have to consider that AD would likely be our third option and that would be a total waste of his talent. The reason AD+LeBron has worked better than Kyrie+Love and Wade+Bosh isn't that AD is better than both of those players. It's the fact that there is no overlapping in ability. Kevin Love standing and watching Bron and Kyrie means you paid max dollars for someone to do less than what they're actually capable of. Same with Bosh. Having just two stars, we're able to maximize their talent and potential.

i would have taken dlo as a fallback, but gs got him in the s&t.

again, it refutes the idea that we hadn't considered the possibility that kawhi wouldn't sign, and it highlights that our backup backup plan was still pretty solid.

D'Lo would have gotten max or at the very least, very close to it. Considering AD gave up money to play for the Lakers, it would have been disrespectful to even offer D'Lo that kind of money. If we couldn't get Kyrie, Kawhi, Klay, KD, or Jimmy Butler, I was perfectly fine with our team spending that money on a collective group of players rather than D'Lo. We just haven't seen any evidence that D'Lo is a great player. Leading the Nets to the playoffs when their supporting cast is able to win games without D'Lo and Kyrie isn't impressive to me at all. The year before they made the playoffs, they had the same record with D'Lo not playing in those games. The NBA just had a lot of money to hand out and guys like D'Lo will get an inflated boost thanks to the market.

I would have too. But this sum of parts I think has made for a better team. Everyone fits perfectly. The D-Lo fit was a little iffy. It may have worked great, but it couldn't have been better than the combination of all these guys.

D'Angelo Russell would have fit very well with this team but not at max money. Any 6'5 guard who can shoot is gonna be good on a team with Lebron James. Russell would have flourished in this offense and would have played the perfect 3rd star on this team. I'd say the only issue would have been his defense but if Kuzma could learn to keep his guy in front of him, I'm sure Russell could have as well.

DLO has shown to be effective getting to the basket as well last year, and that's something this team lacks. I'm sure he'd find a way to fit in just fine. As it is right now, we don't have that guaranteed production from a 3rd player at all this year. The positives probably would have outweighed the negatives since we have the trees behind him erasing defensive mistakes.

i wonder if we'd have the same team-first, defensive identity that we have if russell were here instead of green and whomever else would have been sacrificed (probably bradley?).

i actually wonder the same if cousins had been healthy and we hadn't gotten dwight. which is really weird to say.
