The current movies are so bad, a simple tv show like The Mandalorian is a breath of fresh air for an OT fan like me, the callback creatures alone is well worth the watch. It's like a spaghetti western and samurai movie (not that those genres weren't mixed before) rolled into one.

    Fingers crossed

On another note, I sort of get what she’s saying, but still, don’t say it. Read the room, good lord talk about tone deaf.

Makes me hope this is true and Kennedy starts to fade into the background

Don’t know how I missed this tv spot from a couple days ago. It’s short and sweet, but damn I got some chills finally

Damn, episode 3 of the Mandalorian was awesome. Lots of laughs, suspense, and I fist pumped at least once. It was already good, but it’s on now.

I thought they looked cool. The 3PO line cracked me up, but he always does aside from AoTC (love him in ESB especially), but yeah the 2 more times repeated was lame, pretty cheesy. Hopefully an early scene with some needed levity to balance out very heavy stuff to come later on.

The Mandalorian is awesome. I know that this is no longer canon, but Karen Traviss's work on the clones and Mandalore really prepared me to love this series. I think it's absolutely amazing. The budget is ridiculous (over $100m for 8 episodes, reportedly). There's just a brief scene where the Mandalorian is walking to his ship and I said out loud, "No other show can have this scene." The budget really works here.

The cast is super cool, too. And I love the almost RPG-like feel of what's going on. Do a mission. Return. Upgrade. Repeat.

Alright this one gave me the nerd chills. This is the most the Emperor has sounded like the Emperor since Return of the Jedi to me (the way he says “Skywalker!”). He was great in RoTS, but he didn’t sound quite like that same old guy, which was fine because I figured was intentional because he just became the guy in that movie. But I missed this voice.

Episode 4 was good, but felt a little like a filler episode, almost like an episode of Stargate SG1.

I love finding out about the Mandalorian as a character. We’re seeing his limitations. This brings the character to life. We’re also seeing some really cool world building. The little touches in this episode were very well done.

The barkeep’s reactions to the tips. The fearsome appearance of the AT-ST. And in keeping with the rpg feel, he has a sidekick.

I was thinking I never give those things respect before in the films and Rebels but in a backwoods planet those are WMDs

Filoni is an executive producer. So much of the Star Wars universe (canon) was built by him and Lucas together in The Clone Wars TV show. For all the prequels' problems, if someone sits down and watches the Clone Wars cartoon in it's entirety, their view on the prequels would undoubtedly change. Filoni is excellent at world/galaxy building. It's Filoni's Clone Wars cartoon that made the galaxy far, far away the expansive and interesting place it is to so many fans. The galaxy that Rian Johnson brutally destroyed with his retconing of the original trilogy.

I don’t know. You may be right. But the KOTOR games, the Battefront games, and the countless novels did it for so many, too.

For what it’s worth, I really enjoyed the clone wars cartoon. I’m finally getting around to watching Rebels.

I still think that Karen Traviss’s work is the single best thing in the SW universe, even if it’s no longer canon.

Yeah. I'm kind of talking official canon. As fantastic as KOTOR was and some of the novels, even Lucas before the sale kind of viewed canon as the movies and the cartoon. And I think far, far more people watched Clone wars than read the books. I mean, I'd say 90% of book readers and KOTOR players probably watched the Clone Wars. I wouldn't say that 90% of Clone War viewers read the books. A lot of people 10-15 years older than you and I grew up on that show the same way we grew up on Voltron, Thundercats, etc. (I think I remember you being around 40.)
