When the lil' clips were up 3-1 on the rockettes I had the feeling the tide could very well turn in the battle for L. A. Now a week later, the lil' clips embarrassed all of So. Cal. with their epic choke job, and...the Lakers secure the #2 pick in the upcoming draft. The lil' clips are hamstrung with salary cap issues( remember those days?), in danger of losing their best defensive player to free agency, with the Lakers have max level cap space , possibly even more this year, and next year with the cap exploding upward, Kobe's contract up, they will have tons of cap space. All is right in Los Angeles again! Ballmer and his new toy would be well advised to pack their bags and move up to Seattle, take the Sonics name, and wipe clean the lil' clips legacy of misery and failure.I found it hilarious when the rockettes/ lil' clips game 7 score was announced at Dodger Stadium and the whole stadium erupted in cheers. Ballmer should look at that long and hard as an indicator of the hopeless battle he faces in developing a lil' clip brand in L. A.

I agree 100%. It would be in the team's best interest to bathe in all the love and hope and new start karma that would be in Seattle, with that city starving for a team again after losing the Supersonics. Rams fans from L.A. say hello.

BUT. Ballmer has to eat bleep yet again for his business decisions (yeah, the genius laughing at and then getting SMOKED by the iPhone) and bend over and take it AGAIN with the intrinsic value of the franchise moving to smaller market Seattle...... that he paid over 2 BILLION dollars (for).

They are a mess moving forward. The mighty lose DJ but don't have the cap room to replace him and fill out their holes. Doc, while a decent coach, is not a great GM. He planned for the now, not the later and that back fired. While the Lakers are on the up and up after two seasons of garbage, those two seasons were the best time for the Clippers to make some noise. They made some noise, sounded more like farts than it did of a parade.

Lakers have a #2 pick, randle returning, first team all rookie, kobe returning plus cap space for the next couple years to add max players and solid role players. Tell me which sounds better?

There's about to be a direct correlation between how good we get and how bad they get.

If DeAndre Jordan leaves, their window is closed just as ours opens.

i was at dodger stadium when paul hit the shot against San Antonio and was amazed at how many angelinos let out a groooan (of displeasure)... this is a lakers town and always will be.

This is (for the clips) the end of the era. Like when they had that team in the 90's that finally made the playoffs and had a nice run (won a game). Someone said it best in a meme I saw - Clippers Hang Selfies Lakers Hang Banners (referring to clips covering up championship banners with their own 'banners'). Honestly, even as a Laker fan I would have been 'ok' (this year) seeing them go to the finals and win one. Have nothing against them when Lakers suck and are building for future. But Clippers fans? (And their players) too pre-occupied for fighting to not be no. 2 in LA. Its like a Jets and Giants thing in NY Football - which organization wins Super Bowls? Why is that?

No. 2 pick does not guarantee we will not suffer a 50 point beat down from them in the near future. Its just the luck of the lakers giving us an opportunity to see the bridge to the future.

Damn! Really? I know they have booed Paul whenever he attended a game. Very telling...

Totally agree with everyone here. Ballmer should take this also ran up to Seattle sooner than later. He'd be a hometown hero there for bringing back a franchise, they'd build a stadium for him - he would no longer have to share one and use the Lakers locker room for his HQ. They'd get a brand new start, they could wash off the stink of the Sterling fiasco, start over, and as therealdeal said, get a new logo, new colors, new name. They need to start from scratch. They will always be second fiddle here. And they just got LAID out in front of everyone and torched in the papers by the main LA Times writer. I mean TORCHED. They have embarrassed themselves.

It all makes way too much sense for him to move it out.

Oh I think it does when put into the context of what our entire roster is going to be like next year, and for the years to come. There will be no more beat downs, with caveat of "reasonable" NBA luck in the health department as FREAKING ALWAYS. Going out on a limb here. [IMG]

52,000+ fans on any given night at Dodger stadium should tell them ALL they need to know whenever Clipper anything is announced, other than getting BEAT.

the Clippers have a nice little team over there, and it was good to see them have some success
Looks like they will face a few challenges going forward, but hopefully this type of year is more of the norm moving forward than the exception
Passion, energy, and money will carry you a long ways. The owner obviously can't be too concerned with the salary cap, so I doubt they will drop off a cliff
However, it will take decades of success to supplant the Lakers as the local loved team. Just WAYYYY too much history. I call those "basketball reasons"

Back in the day I didn't mind clippers success at all. Every one loves to pick on their little brother. So that's the way I saw them the loveable losers if LA trying so hard. So cute. But it started with the Shaq defectors going over there, then the red head and his fans.. Then the veto and their success coupled with our demise. Then all of the sudden all Lakers haters were suddenly clippers fans.. Wtf.. So now I see them as a self serving never accomplished anything riding in our coattails only famous cause we are jealous little beeotch brother.. The locker room and the banners sealed it.. They disrespect us they don't deserve ours.. As far as I'm concerned.. The days of not minding them doing good are gone. I wish they would just leave and stop pining after our wife and life

    Oh snap! Darth sighting!

And hell yes you're right. I think a big reason the Lakers fans hate the Clippers' success right now is because Chris Paul going to them was such a direct slap in our face. they rob of us our trade because it means a big market team winning again, but then he goes to the exact same market for a worse trade package? What the f***? Yeah I've got to say that's a huge problem I have.

A Darth sighting..... [IMG] And apparently ^^^ as well, freaking Clippers balloons tied to one or more of Lakers' greats' statues out in front during the playoffs. Eff em all. Sick of all the giant LED Clipper signs at L.A. Live. Here's your "Rise Up" ..... hanging. [IMG]

I wanted to agree with you too soon apparently and missed this gem at the very end....

Ya know what though? At this point I'm actually glad Stern did us dirty like that. We are going to draft a center that may very well end up being better than Dwight within a year or two. We got a great kid in Clarkson (who I am NOT comparing to Paul in terms of talent) as well as Randle. Dwight was/is a punk. We all kind of knew it when he was here, but we swallowed our Laker Pride and dealt with it because we didn't see any other way to stay relevant. Paul is awesome, but he is an annoying flopper that we would have rooted for simply because he was wearing Purple and Gold, not because we were proud of the way he conducted himself. And with all that being said, who knows if Paul/Howard/Kobe would have even worked?

As much as it stung at the time, we are looking forward with Okafor/Randle/Clarkson and tons of cap space.

The Clippers have Blake and CP3 and may lose DeAndre leaving them capped out and perhaps their window shut.

I would rather be the Lakers right now than the Clippers because they had their shot this year and failed. DJ may leave and then who knows when they'll have another shot? The Lakers may not have the guaranteed talent the Clips have right now, but we have a lot to be optimistic about concerning what's building.

^^ I agree with you all the way Savory Griddles. I think the Paper Clips are in a catch-22 with Jordan, and I couldn't agree more about CP3 and Dwight. I was high on getting both, but I'm fine now with neither. I like our young core and if we add Okafor or Towns we'll be in great shape for the future.
