You have to admit that Lonzo had major potential. He just needed more time to change his release point, then to figure out how to make a jump shot. A couple more years of that, then BOOM.

Rondo had a 10 assist game the previous game that was good. He has punched CP360 in the face and kicked that turd Shroeder in the nuts and you still dog him?

 

Lonzo is soft, weak in body and can't shoot. He will be average his whole career. At least he will have a career, we can give him that.

 

If this was WWE then yeah, good job. But it's basketball where the goal is to win not engage in juvenile delinquency

There is no reason why a lifetime 40% 3 point shooter shouldn't eventually come right.

 

Do you mean “right” or “right?”? I just see it as typical Lakers luck where a 3pt sharpshooter on one team comes here and becomes average.

B.I. is killing it. I’ve watched him a few games now and he is what he was projected to be and what Magic was hyping since “Shut Him Down” summer league. All of the kids in fact are living up to draft expectations for the most part. The good news is Lakers scouting is very competent; the bad news is we are trading away players going into their breakout season.

I want our youth, though we barely have any, to get some playing time. Mix this up and get them comfortable to step in during the long season.

 

I get that you can't just let Daniels shoot like Harden or Klay... we need to prioritize LBJ and AD.

However, there's the opposite extreme like how we treated players like Mo and Svi, giving them random minutes and very limited opportunity to get into a rhythm. Thomas Bryant was another we treated like this. Detroit is still treating Svi like this.

Washington, mainly because they are a bottom dwelling team, had the luxury of letting these untested players shoot... so Bryant and Mo have flourished.

Maybe BI has also flourished because of lowered expectations in New Orleans.

Maybe Daniels is choking because of playing for raised stakes.

They still need to let him shoot and give him some regular run to find his rhythm. I don't see how one shot and yank him to the bench will fix the problem.

 

Would you try to reacquire any of our former youth?

 

Sure, I loved watching all those guys, but it all depends on the cost and what our other options are.
I also have a feeling we burned some bridges so it might take some doing to get them back.
It will be interesting to see if the front office can do similar magic filling out the roster next season.

This team is pretty good, but we have some underpriced players like Dwight who probably won't be so cheap next year.

Our 4th Q offense is so predictable. Lebron stepback 3 in the left wing or AD being posted up in the right wing but 20 feet from the basket. No Ball or player movement to put these guys in the right spots to score.

Also Lebron gets really tight in the 4th Q, you know exactly what he's going to do...doesn't really have a post up game or pull up midrange game

 

That’s on Vogel and this roster. You see they experiment with having Rondo in the game with LeBron, but that doesn’t seem to help. They still need someone that can run the offense because LeBron plays playoff style ball when he runs the offense. It’s too early for that.

wait, i can play this fun game i learned: so you're saying that it's not ok to hope for continued health (and dominance) for the players on your team (because it's unlikely), but it IS ok to hope that players suddenly make giant leaps to superstardom (despite most evidence suggesting it's unlikely)?

This is an underrated point: on a contender with mvp guys who will get the most touches you need roleplayers who can come out and hit shots without getting a feel for the game that comes with plays run specifically for you

Some guys like Kerr can thrive on this others can't. On the Cavs with LeBron they were really successful when guys like Jefferson and Frye still had some gas in the tank as they were great at this. On the other hand younger more athletic guys like Hood, Waiters,Clarkson just struggled with this.
