    Barns & thk,

I noticed @LakersN4 's post about join date & post count. I want to reiterate how great that would be. I came because of the people but it would be awesome if that could transfer over.

On another note - I know you put a lot of dough into this and I wish you the best. It's awesome when your passions in life can lead to sustenance and I hope this does.

@thkthebest said it might not be possible to make that happen. Honestly I feel like it's better to just have a fresh start. I had a LOT of posts over there, but I find a lot of value in starting over on this site. If that's something a lot of people want cool, but I don't have any problem without it.

Also I don't have anything to do with it either. Barns and thk are the ones putting all that work in. (thanks guys!)

    Thanks Chill!:)

Yeah, we'll discuss adding everyone's post count and join date. Problem is that it would have to be someone going through each member and adding that stuff manually. That's not bad right now, but it may be a continuous chore if a lot of the 13k members of CL come over. That's why, while I like the idea, I need to have someone else take charge of that task. I have enough on my plate and that sounds like a huge helping of work.

The process would be much simpler and easier if clublakers worked with Barnstable, but we all know that's not happening. Lol.

Anyway, the admins (@KB24) might have access to it. On phpbb, there should be a maintenance page with the option to create a "backup". If the admins can do that, then importing the information shouldn't be hard.

But to what extent would we be bringing CL to LB? Some people like the idea of a fresh new forum. Others seem to want this to be a continuation of CL.

I don't want KB24 migrating data here without express written consent from CL. You start to get into legal stuff doing something like that. That's why I was thinking it would need to be done manually.

Migration would have to include the name changes as well. I don't see how it can be automated without going over each and every username.

After talking it over with the staff, and listening to the comments from multiple threads around LB, we have decided not to migrate post count and join date over from CL.

There are a two main reasons that we came to this conclusion:

    1. Many members that were lurkers on CL stated they decided to join and start posting because everyone is starting off new like them.

    2. This isn't CL. This is a new start. While we know CL was a great community for many of us, we also wanted to make this site a fresh start where for instance, people that were previously banned can start anew, and members can feel they are getting a fresh start.

If you would like to acknowledge your post count and join date from CL, please just note it in your Signature.

I'm late to the discussion, but I have to agree with Barns and the admin. It is better to let LB create its own culture and vibe. While in a way we are a continuation of CL, if its really going to work it has to be its own thing.
