Kuzma has played some outstanding man defense at times. Much better than years past. I'm not catching the entire games, but I've actually been pleased with his progress in this area.

Not exactly. Melo can still post up or hit mid range shots. When KCP and Kuzma's shots are going on, what have they got going for them? Kuzma CAN cut to the basket but it seems like he's trigger happy waiting for the three. KCP's midrange game from 10-16 is 13% for the season. Neither of these guys is generating any offense and we're not exactly in a prime position to make huge trades. Melo is a cheap and easy pick-up if Iguodala cannot be signed.

He's been beaten to the rim many times and is constantly in bad positioning. Dragic attacked him many times only to be covered by two other Lakers or else he would have scored. It's not good defense at all - he's just got a lot of help in that area.

I agree with you that the offense is bad. I think it’s awful at times, all we do is give the ball to LeBron and let him make a play, and when he’s out it’s just whoever is open. That said I’m not ready to give up on Kuz, awful as he was, this was his 4th game of the season, he had no camp, he had no preseason. KCP just sucks, I’m not gonna defend him. I don’t think Melo is the answer though, I would think there have to be other, younger unsigned guys, maybe a guy that gets waived, guys in the G-League, there has to be someone looking for an opportunity rather than washed up Melo. Dwight is working, yes, but I’m not generally a fan of uncreative signings that haven’t worked elsewhere repeatedly or retreads, there should be other options to try first. Melo feels very last resort, and a 7-1 team doesn’t need to go looking to add last resorts IMO. We have the luxury of time right now to see if a guy like Kuz can turn it around.

If we were really going that route I’d prefer Wade and I REALLY don’t want Wade.

Kuzma has been awful. That being said, he is still trying to get back into game shape. I was watching a clip from him last year when he was doing his best and you can see the difference plain as day. I think the team knows he is struggling but know that he needs some time. The whole 4th quarter against Miami, I kept screaming to replace him ASAP but Vogel kept running with him. Hmmmmm. I don't think Vogel is dumb, I think he is giving him the time he needs and HE NEEDS IT. As long as we are winning then fine, hopefully he works though his mechanical problems and gets his wind and legs back. The biggest thing he needs to work on is playing within himself and to quit making bone headed mistakes!!

Move Dudz to our social ambassador and taking full control over our official Lakers twitter account.

And for all of those saying he HAS to be on the roster to keep the locker room happy...nah, there’s another that can control that scene.

Per wiki, 2 older and 2 younger.

Let's get all 4 of his brothers and we can run an entire Antetokounmpo 5 man unit. Making NBA history.

Yeah, Melo feels very last resort to me too.

The coaching staff will give Kuz time and as you said have that luxury but his D is awful. It might get slightly better as he gets his legs back but Kuz is not a good defender and a horrible rebounder for a guy his size.

I wouldn’t be surprised if some combination of Kuz, Dudley, Daniels, and even McGee is traded before the deadline. If we could trade KCPOOP, I would unload him too. I would trade Kuz for Iggy in a heartbeat.

I feel like half of us are seeing two completely different games from Kuz. From what I’m seeing, Kuz isn’t perfect of course because he doesn’t have the natural feel for it, but he’s looked better every game, and he’s been much better on his individual man defense. He’s a step slow on his reads, but he’s so long that he’s still able to bother his man. I’ve seen him shut down multiple drives to the basket.

He needs to get better on taking away angles for drives, fighting through screens, and especially rotations, but he’s no longer the target for exploitation IMO.

Dude is getting a 10 game suspension w/o pay. Waiters is a klutch klient and maybe Rich has it where Kcp lifts that no-trade.

Waiters and a distant Miami pick for Kcp/Dudz?

I hope for the best with him and Vogel will cover his deficiencies but once opponents get enough film on him in this new scheme they’ll go back to exploiting him. He’s just not a good defender... and that’s okay. Plenty of guys suck at D that are in the league but one has to bring something else to the table. For Kuz, it’s his O.
