^ They have also missed quite a bit of open shots.

yes I saw those stats too where their % is also poor on wide open shots but Cook, Daniels, Caruso to an extent get spot minutes but rarely do I see them get open rythm 3's, like on a catch and shoot or stepping into an open 3 on a fast break

Kawhi and even freaking Montrellz were like Harden at fourth qt in game vs Utah. Why LeBron would not get calls like this, and when he was in Cleveland he went to line more often

I'm not sure it's about calls he's not getting. Dude is taking a ton of step back iso 3's that dont lend themselves to drawing fouls.

Last year, Daniels shot 47.9% on 1.8 wide open 3s per game with 34.2% of his shots being wide open 3s. This year, he’s shooting 34.2% on 2.5 wide open 3s per game with 44.1% of his shots being wide open 3s.

Last year, Cook shot 49.6% on 1.6 wide open 3s per game with 26.5% of his shots being wide open 3s. This year, he’s shooting 25% on 1.3 wide open 3s per game with 23.5% of his shots being wide open 3s.

Daniels is getting and missing more wide open 3s. Lack of rhythm or fewer open shots isn’t the case here.

Cook is getting about the same open looks at the same rate as last year, but missing. No excuse for him either.

We have a very small sample size, but so far, their shooting is unexplainably terrible.

Kawhi was just pulling long jumpers yesterday, he had terrible night and still ended with 12 FT ,and like 8 of them in final 3-4 minutes of the game

I like it how it is now with a short and shorter leash for McGee to let him save face, try to get back to how he was playing this time a year ago and to seriously light a fire under his a**. We need him. But Dwight into the game early and playing big minutes and even finishing when the matchups are right or he's simply needed lets him become sixth man important even. Rightly so last year we said McGee was playing like an all star. Dwight's this year doing even more things well than Javale was then and is the surprise one playing like an all star this year. And who the eff knew (be honest) that Dwight was a slick emm effing passer? Some those have been really, really great so far.

I'm certainly not one for negativity especially for how we've been playing to start the year but I saw a stat on last night's Spectrum SportsNet telecast I believe it was that showed Lebron/AD led the league in two players percentage of team's points. Lebron/AD are making up 50% of our points is what that stat read. While this doesn't mean their usage is the highest in the league per say it would be nice if this could become lower as the year goes on. I'm thinking once Kuz gets in better game shape and rhythm + with Rondo making a return eventually this will decrease a little. Also will help when our shooters on our team who who a great percentage for their career start to hit shots again (Cook and Daniels come to mind).

We have guys that like to shoot the 3pt shot, but not 3pt shooters. A little uptick in pressure and they brick consistently. These guys look scared to shoot sometimes. Lakers luck I guess.

My WMC - can we remove Beverly from the thread title? That dude likes to think he occupies head space, so we’re dignifying him by putting him in the title. We don’t need to talk any more about that glorified help defender.

The team plays like the AD and LBJ show and the rest seem to be treated like roadies. All the shooters seem either petrified to take a shot or miss.
They need to have a green light to shoot to keep the opponents defenses honest. I get that we want AD and LBJ to take the lion's share of the shots but you can see defenses cheat to anticipate the others won't shoot and it will be one of the duo 90% of the time. Let Troy, Quinn, AC shoot and their shots will stop falling. We did this with Svi and he never got untracked. I bet he has a good season in Detroit this year if they give him a chance.

as someone already posted--they're getting shots. open ones. and missing. they'll either fix it or be out of the league, because they can't score otherwise.

If players have four or five years of success shooting threes and then suddenly are bricking wide open shots... you have to consider that maybe they have been told exactly what you said... "fix it or be out of the league"
I'm not saying it's not ultimately their fault... but when so many players falter... Hart, Svi and Kuzma last year... and now Daniels and Cook... maybe the coaching approach is putting them in a position where they fear missing to the point where they can't relax.

or...they lack the mental makeup to contribute to winning basketball.

these are different coaches and players. plenty of players (see, basically all non-harden houston rockets players for the past half decade, for example) thrive in catch and shoot roles.
