Lebron and AD should play the majority of their minutes at the 4 and the 5 for spacing purposes but they don't want to ...

Winning your way doesn't happen often

    ding ding ding.

everyone but lebron and AD have known this for a few years. gotta live with it. my guess is vogel's placating, and if things really go south, he'll ask them to play the bulk of their minutes there (because it just makes sense). then we'll see how concerned management is with them walking.

but i've said this multiple times: if you're unwilling to play the role that makes you a game-changing superstar, then...you're not actually a game-changing superstar. if lebron wants to be a secondary playmaking sf, he can do that and lose. if AD wants to be an exclusively high post pf, he can do that and lose.

    edit: or this:

    https://www.theringer.com/nba/2019/10/25/20931070/lebron-james-los-angeles-lakers-evolution

writer basically advocates similar things, but lebron handles the "5" duties defensively. can't do it for 82 games, but it's the only way to beat the clippers, post-cousins injury.

Bron won his titles with a playmaking guard (Wade, Ky) and playmaking stretch bigs (Love, AD), but suddenly he needs to be the primary point guard at 35y/o to win a chip.

Meanwhile Nawlins has failed to bring AD a center to play with till Boogs...and that s*** looked good before Boogie fell...

But AD doesn’t advance if he doesn’t play the 5 now? Wait, how did that work out for him in Nawlins?

Some of you guys are reaching. If it’s a necessity your aging star has to do more to make it work and your other star has to play a position he does not want to...you’re doing something wrong and maybe, just maybe you’re setting them up to fail (see Kob’s career cut short).

or...you weren't going to win anyway (see end of kobe's career as well). if lebron isn't lebron, we don't have title hopes. if he can only be lebron for 12 games a year and must be mothballed all year for that, we won't make the playoffs.

i don't have time to dig up all the AD at center stats, but iirc, they're staggering*. nobody thinks you have to start him there, but nobody sensible thinks he shouldn't be playing minutes there. if he thinks that, he's not sensible, either. and no, he won't win that way. unless he's playing next to a superstar max center like embiid or jokic.

ironically, cousins was the closest thing we could get to making everyone happy. but i'm sure we screwed that up somehow, too, right? i mean, why'd we go over the minimum???!!

*actually, i looked them up, and he's similarly effective at each--as long as that center is cousins. if it's a non-shooting threat, boo.

Bro, all I'm saying is that we need playmakers to limit his regular season usage and get our star to the playoffs in one piece. I mean, don't take my word for it:

Following last night’s upset loss to the New Orleans Pelicans, King James told members of the media that his team needs a back-up point guard really bad. He even said that this year’s team is worse than their 2016 squad, citing they lack depth; but we’re believing this will be resolved will J.R. Smith returns to the team in a few weeks. LeBron went to say, “We need a f***ing playmaker. I’m not saying you can just go find one, like you can go outside and see trees.

I didn’t say that. … I don’t know what we got to offer. I just know me, personally? I don’t got no time to waste. I’ll be 33 in the winter, and I ain’t got time to waste. That’s what I’m talking about.”Cavaliers GM David Griffin has just under three weeks to complete a mid-season acquisition, ...

As for AD, if we're interested in video game numbers, then play him at the 5 during the regular season. If we're being serious about that 17 number tho, then get his a** to May without any major falls.

You're still ranting about AD not playing against some 6'7" - 6'9" dude if he is the 5 on floor for the other team as per the lineup at that point in time? Nonsensical if it happens the 5-10 minutes a game it happens. Others have explained that is not what he meant when he said it, but as always with you to no f****** avail as you keep parroting your 12 same paragraphs regardless. Basketball injuries happen at the 4 just as randomly. You can't bubble wrap his body for crissakes.

And you’re not parroting your own dialogue?

It’s my opinion and don’t act like I haven well sourced all my arguments. It’s similar discussion but the content mostly changes.

How dare you accuse me of reproducing similar content.

    Good day sir...

He looked much better out there against the Jazz. Had better energy and was much more effective. There was none of that passive, timid, is-he-done? Bron we saw in game one.

Hell, he was actually playing some solid D at times.

Some of that defense was really impressive. Then he truly took over in the 4th. That's what I want to see.

Also, free throw shooting? 87.5%? Yeah man.

Much better look from Lebron. Didn’t try to force things and took over when we needed him to.

Overpowered Ingles and Green who aren't shabby players... Did his runaway locomotive work on drives to the basket.

On his free throw attempts, James holds the ball a split second longer to gather himself before shooting. Seems to work.

He did this against arguably one of the best defensive teams in the L - that's encouraging.

Only 31 minutes too - need to keep him below 32mpg

btw, utah tried the same thing the clips did in game 1, only this time, lebron didn't wuss out of the iso duty. you're a superstar, punish isolation and you can play the game you'd rather play.

Again, took over in the 4th. That's how it's done.
