You can't say and I quote "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere-Our lives begin to end
the day we become silent about things" ...And then say the rockets manager made a mistake in saying Freedom for Hong Kong.
He dove into this realm when he started speaking on social issues. When he didn't have much to lose, he spoke loudly.
Now his tune has changed and its very disappointing. He should have stood for American values before anything else. The NBA
and Lebron can take the financial hit fairly easily. Im very bummed on Lebron, thats my take. Now onto the season.

Honestly, LeBron is in a no win situation here.
If he says nothing, he gets blasted because he's supposed to be a "spokesman" for the NBA.
If he say anything at all, even as carefully as he tried to craft his words, he's stepping into a geo-political mess that he really knows nothing about.

    Live look at Bron:

Who is not in bed with China right now? Kuz with his new shoe deal has plenty to lose...Klay, Wade and Rondo are just a few to have Chinese based company shoe deals and they all stand to lose...all his Nike guys stand to lose including AD and yes Kobe with his signature shoe. That all happens if they say something, but Bron seems to have taken that bullet for em all.

He’s the hypocrite now, as those that condemn the man spew their hate speech from the comforts of their Chinese manufactured iPhones...while he’s done nearly everything right for the inner cities, where he’s from, and for nearly every current athlete out there, which he is.

Btw @johnnyboy that quote is from MLK, who was a freedom fighter, and made when his people were refused a right to vote. HK has its own parliament that allowed China to infiltrate their infrastructure. How is that even comparable?

    https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bbc.co.uk/news/amp/world-asia-china-50065292

I’ll be first to state, I’m not that educated in this...

But if Bron sides with HK, does China back off and grant them full sovereignty?

I guess we’ll never know...but China is spiteful enough to hurt Bron and his NBA brotherhood. That much is certain.

Money tightens up and then the NBA goes on strike and then who suffers? Hey at least HK culture and economics won’t get poached by Chinese mainland tourists anymore and let freedom ring.

I’m not trying to undermine their situation, but let’s not act that Bron is such a disappointment when most folks probably tuned out of the democratic presidential debates tonight and yet still will entrust their liberties and freedoms to whoever becomes their elected official.

I really don’t want to offend anybody, but some of this is ridiculous imho. I’m disappointed in how he carried out his message initially, but in no way do I look at him as less of a man and role model for the kids in Gotham.

As for the folks in HK, US politicians and not ball players bound to Chinese shoe money, got you. Look to them to gain traction in getting something done...

It just continues to irk me that Morey is getting a complete pass.

If he was truly making a statement for freedoms then why did he delete his tweet?

he took that tweet down in about 5 minutes indicating that even he realized it was a mistake.

    RIGHT??!!!

dude is Teflon. Now his fanboys—which appear to be everyone, media especially—are implying that he’s some sort of freedom fighter. f*** that noise. He’s not riding for anyone but Morey, ever. And he’s not answering to anyone, ever.

Its a win, win in my view. Stand for American values not matter the cost. The money he losses in China gets partially made up by
the pride many Americans would have felt with his words. (even more endorsements and opportunity)

Don't mean to insult anybody, but... I find this entire discussion hilarious to be honest. Agreed athletes should not be the ones asked to comment on these things. But the thing is, people like to talk about values, it's just that NOBODY does anything about those same values when it comes to the likes of modern China. Everybody knows what their government is doing (or the part that gets leaked, which as we can assume is the easiest to digest anyway). And yet everybody buys Chinese products, athletes earn millions from commercials paid for by Chinese companies (guess who owns these) etc. etc.

Give me a break with the talk about values. If people really cared, China wouldn't have become as powerful as it has in such a short time. My experience tells me the more people talk about values, the less they give a s$$t in real life.

Back on topic - I can't wait to see how Bron looks like when the season starts. Hopefully we can finally get some break from the constant injuries, at least for the core players, and see what this team can become. And I am pretty sure it can be mighty. I guess the games agains the clipps will be marked red in everybody's calendar, a must see. But I also hope we stomp the lesser teams on regular basis, as we used to during the championship stretches with Kobe and Co.

Completely disagree. No matter what Lebron would have said, half the Country would blast him for it.
That's just the way our political climate is right now & Lebron is a very polarizing figure.
Also, Pride is not the same as $$. Try taking millions away from someone & saying "but we're all really proud of you" & see how that goes over.

Everyone just needs to leave my main man LeBron James alone

    "Lebronshame"

he’s the Kang. The G.O.A.T. and it’s not really even debatable.

Uh Ky, you wouldn’t happen to know if KD’s burner account is available for comment? At least answer that much before you duck out on us.

NBA really playing it where Bron is the goose.

Why would half the country blast him for standing up for freedom and American values? And if they did, they would look bad for doing so. Pretty simple.
There comes a time where Morality and values has to Trump (no pun) money. This was one of those times. People are being oppressed and are fighting
for their freedom and independence. No dem/rep is gonna argue that our American values shouldnt be upheld. Like I said, those that would
criticize that would be making their own bed to lay in.

Why would half the Country blast him..? I have no idea why half the Country thinks & says the things they do, but that's the reality.
I don't disagree with your sentiment at all, but for a high profile Celebrity in Today's World, one wrong word, even if your intentions are good, can set off a firestorm.

We do leave Lebron alone. Then he comes into our rooms and starts talking s***. It's not our fault. He thinks he's smarter than he is. He's not.

Hong Kong is important and all that ... but did y’all see that no-look-over-the-head-behind-the-back-falling-out-of-bounds pass to Danny Green for 3?
