Possible Whine, Moan, RAGE development? Does this just mean China not broadcasting our games there, or as well not allowing the broadcasts back to US because of Morey opening his pie hole?

    https://www.yahoo.com/sports/chinese-state-tv-halts-nba-080848354.html

"Daryl Morey, as general manager of the Houston Rockets, enjoys that right as one of our employees," Silver said. "What I also tried to suggest is that I understand there are consequences from his freedom of speech and we will have to live with those consequences."

Among those consequences: CCTV said it would not show the games between the Los Angeles Lakers and Brooklyn Nets, who will play Thursday in Shanghai and Saturday in Shenzhen. Basketball is wildly popular in China and those two teams — largely because of LeBron James starring for the Lakers and Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba's co-founder Joe Tsai now owning the Nets — almost certainly would have been a huge television draw.

"We're strongly dissatisfied and oppose Adam Silver's claim to support Morey's right to freedom of expression," CCTV said in a statement. "We believe that any remarks that challenge national sovereignty and social stability are not within the scope of freedom of speech."

The broadcaster is also reviewing all its cooperation and exchanges involving the NBA, said the statement posted to CCTV Sports' official social media account.
    "

"Silver said the NBA did not expect CCTV to cancel plans to show the Lakers-Nets games. "But if those are the consequences of us adhering to our values, I still feel it's very, very important to adhere to those values," Silver said.

The rift between China and the NBA started late last week when Morey tweeted a now-deleted image that read: "Fight for Freedom. Stand with Hong Kong," in reference to months of pro-democracy demonstrations in the semiautonomous Chinese territory that has been mired in escalating violence between protesters and law enforcement
    ."

    doesn't look like it

I'd pull out if I was the NBA. Don't give them the satisfaction of making money on something the NBA won't.

    But Morey is an idiot.

    "Threes and Free Throws!!!"
"Harden is a better scorer than Jordan"
    "China sucks donkey balls"

Am I the only one that doesn’t have an issue with what Morey said? Human rights and lives should come before Chinese basketball money. I don’t care if I can’t watch a preseason game, they shouldn’t even be playing them there in the first place with what’s going on.

I don't think the world can get into this s*** with China, where nobody can say anything that they don't like. F'em. The truth is, America has it's fair share of problems and I don't like a lot of what I see in our politics. But China is a totalitarian cluster F and they can go to hell as far as I am concerned.

Any business who sets themselves up to NEED Chinese money, deserves to fail.

the problem isn't with morey's opinion; it's with the fact that he expressed it in a way that could cause problems like this. he, of all people, should have known that his team's business relationship with china (which has been pretty huge for an otherwise pretty blah big market franchise) would be affected.

i mean, if china bugs you so much, why didn't you resign years ago? why are you allowing your team to play basketball over there in the first place?

it's odd timing to make a stand--which he obviously isn't really doing, anyway, as he retracted the tweet and half-apologized immediately. he's no kaepernick. he's a self-satisfied slacktivist who didn't think before he tweeted, imo.

even if he is, imo, correct in the moral sense.

His carelessness just caused more turmoil than a James Harden running 1 footed 3 Pointer

    it's indefensible

and yeah, maybe i wasn't fully clear, but the idea that this was some intentional move by morey to better the world is ridiculous. he screwed up.

Yes, he's the poster boy for nothing more than analytics that are good enough to come in 2nd. On international matters, he should not be addressing the world.

The Lakers are considered legitimate title contenders this season, while the majority of the basketball world isn't giving the Dubs a chance.

John Hollinger of The Athletic is in the minority.

The former Memphis Grizzlies executive believes the Warriors will enter the playoffs as the No. 4 seed in the West (with a record of 51-31), and the Lakers will be No. 5 (at 50-32).

Yes, this means Golden State would host Los Angeles in the first round.

I want to know on what kind of drugs this man is.
