We have struck out and it's amazing/alarming at how often it's happened.

Which is why Bron gets big ups by me and then he helped bring in AD. So whether you like it or not, we have been klutch in free agency....it's just not in the traditional sense. We need guys up top that can close deals on top flight guys.

It still blows my mind we had no real max guy contingency to Kawhi.

As for going Greek, it looks like dude is going international again.

This. We need to keep flexibility by signing moveable assets. We have done that to an extent. We signed solid role players this time for two seasons. I dont mind trying for 2021 cap space. Our team is set for two full seasons which is more than it has been for 5 years now.

I dislike the idea that we "lucked into it" as being something that hasnt happened repeatedly over the years. Players choose LA and they choose the Lakers historically. Kareem wanted to be here. Dhaq signed here. LeBron is just the latest. Nobody signed here because we had an old, Achilles torn, expensive Kobe and not much else. Now? We have Anthony Davis and LeBron. After Lebron is gone, we have Anthony Davis. Comparing our 2021 to misguided attempts post-Kobe isn't an apples to apples comparison in my opinion.

I'm not conflating the two scenarios because the two scenarios are closely tied. We are in a situation where we should compete for a title for two years and then have max cap space which is something not many other teams have(the Clippers probably do too). To get that, we suffered for years, but now that flexibilty ia a weapon we should preserve and we should aim for the Giannises of the world. It's worked most of the Lakers' lives. The good news is we tried that and it didn't work this summer, but we were able to build a contender anyway. Giannis wont be the only star available that summer. Having the flexibility to add him is just good business.

I completely agree. People are too locked into Giannis. He is just the example, you have to be ready to strike. Whether it be through trade or free agency. With the league the way it is now, you have to be ready to work in every possible scenario.

I think Jimmy Butler is full of it. No way he picks MIA if he’s all about winning. He’s all about getting his own team, so he doesn’t have to get along with anyone else.

Totally full of it. Jimmy Butler has officially reached "I will never care what he says about anything" status. If he wanted to win, he should have stayed with Simmons and Embiid. Miami's roster is a who's who of overpaid role players AT BEST.

Norvell is already signed to a 2-way, I would guess this is a non guaranteed camp invite “contract”.

I figured we wouldn't make a play for him with 1 roster spot left and wanting to keep that open for Iggy. I'm just glad Korver didn't go to a Western contender. Thanks for going East

This kid had tremendous heart on our SL team. Good move. He has really a varied skillset although not great at anything. I'd stash him in the G-League and keep an eye on him.

Maybe, but whenever I see the name Caroline, I am reminded of all the dreadful karaoke renditions done over the years of Sweet Caroline.
