I believe it's was Rob's compliments to the Pelicans organization, including Griffin and owner Gayle Benson during AD's introduction that caused DG to reciprocate here. So credit where credit is due, yeah Griffin is a good guy but Rob kicked off the good will.
I realize this is a Rob Pelinka thread, but I just felt I had to say this. I watched about 25 minutes of that presser and the first 10 mins of it was David Griffin explaining the trade and why each of the 4 players up there are meaningful to them and I'll tell you what... He's a hell of a spokesperson and I can understand why he has so much respect around the league. He knows how to explain things and give praise. The professionalism, My Goodness!
Yeah, still wish on one hand that Jeanie would have hired Griff as POBO. On the other hand, if she had, maybe the Pelicans hire some knucklehead and we never complete the AD trade.
Yeah. I remember Rob talking about how David Griffin watched Glengarry Glen Ross in preparation for the negotiation, and that in a gesture of good faith Rob set up a meeting with him and Jack Lemmon so Griffin could figure out how Lemmon prepared for the role.
