Also, now Curry is the longest tenured player with the original team who drafted him. We getting old, folks.

Wow. Good morning. This NBA is cray cray.

I would love to get CP3. Thunder are cheap, but if he refuses trades (pouts) he may be able to force a buyout. I just doubt he wants to risk losing 40 or so million of his money: say, negotiated 84 of the 124 with payments over many years. He NEEDS a chip or 2 on his resume. He would need to believe in AD and Bron taking care of him, with some increased endorsements for being in LA again, and MLE type money for a few years to get that money otherwise.

Houston, we have a problem. Our front court should dominate. Our back court may be the worst in the West. Glad we have rim protectors, but our guards and Boogie will be exposed most nights. Will also tax Bron and Kuz quite a bit.

CP can still defend on limited minutes, and his pick-n-roll game with AD and McGee would be insane, esp with DG and Kuz and Daniels ready to shoot.

We are talking more than 35 games against:
Steph and D-Lo (plus Klay later)
    Harden and Westbrook, plus Gordon
    Fox and Hield
    Conley and Mitchell
    Dame and CJ
    CP3 and SGA
    Murray and Derozan
    Lou Williams and Beverly
    Holiday and Redick

Not to mention Luka and Booker on their respective teams.

Good thing: Kawhi and PG should use up a lot of energy this season too.

But man. And some here ask why we have so many guards? Cause we have the worst guard rotation in the Conference and our guys will be chasing, a lot. Our bigs rotation is great for the playoffs, but not the regular season.

Would love to see us get CP3, and then trade KCP and Rondo mid season for a SF.

I’m not sure why people think CP3 to the Lakers is a possibility.

It just isn’t. CP3 would never take a buyout considering he’s owed approximately $150 million dollars. Even if CP3 is open to it and would be willing to give up $50 mil (last year of the player option) to be bought out, OKC wouldn’t just pay him $100 mil to walk away. OKC will be focused on trading him to anyone willing to take him on. That way they don’t have to pay any salary money and they would still be able to get some assets in return.

I mentioned before, I can totally see CP3 to Miami happening. CP3 can get traded there for Dragic (expiring) + James Johnson or Dion Waiters. I can see Riley playing hardball and unwilling to give up any picks, considering that was their stance when negotiating for westbrook. That might be the potential dealbreaker.

If that’s the case, CP3 likely gets sent to one of NBA’s Siberia cities, such as:
    - Detroit in exchange for Reggie Jackson (expiring) + Tony Snell and future picks
    - Minnesota in exchange for Jeff Teague (expiring) + Robert Covington (nice 3 and D player on a reasonable contract for the next 3 years), future pick

It really comes down to if any teams have expiring or shorter contracts and picks that can help OKC lower their costs.

But Stiepen rule, right? The entire league tampering and suddenly some of y'all worried about not bypassing rules. Keep fighting the good fight.

Incentivize a 3rd team for taking on salary Miami has to send out to match Cp3's deal while remaining under the tax apron as a hard capped team. But Green/Kcp @8m was worth the rush into sinking that opportunity.

Btw, if/when Presti swaps out Cp3 for Dragic, James Johnson and easing up off Miami 1st round protections, what do you think they're going to do with all their remaining picks? Do you think they're going to idly stand by when the next disgruntled star asks for a trade? Or is Presti going to reach into his bag of remaining picks plus expiring or 2yr deals (via Cp3 trade) to go get that disgruntled guy?

Also Cp3, at the time, fought hard as the player's association prez to amend the over-36 rule to make it the over-38 rule...do you think that guy is going to be bought out for significantly less of his fully guaranteed bag? It's going to better for Presti to take in Dragic's expiring deal and another smaller deal and find someone that they can grease with their plethora of picks to take on that deal (via a TPE since no team currently has cap space with Dallas operating as a over the cap team in announcing the Powell extension).

Can't wait for the day that some CBA expert comments on our FO's trades like this...

Dont hate the messenger, but 110k for 3 assets, while we dumped 4 for no good reason.

I think it can work. I have always thought that Westbrook’s biggest problem is playing point guard. Maybe the only way to avoid that from happening is to pair him with the other super ball hog. Add that to 7 seconds or less, and i think Westbrook will be in his element. This may prevent him from holding the ball and then gunning it at the end of the shot clock.

But, if Westbrook is going to morph into the Shooting Guard role, isn’t it going to be a problem that he can’t actually shoot?
