Always liked Avery Bradley. This would be a nice signing.

Markieff already signed with Detroit, but yes I go after Marcus as my top target next. I know we need guards, but to me he’s the best overall FA left available, good shooter, solid defender, tough guy with playoff experience. I wonder if he’s out of our price range now though after $15 mil to Green and $8 mil to KCP, hope he doesn’t go to Dallas.

8 mil to KCP. Come on Rich haven’t we suffered enough?

And it’s a 2 year deal, so 2 years $16 mil actually, awesome! I figured you’d heard. Had to pay that Klutch tax again. Though, to be fair, comparable players of his type got more money or more years, he’s still only 26, like I said in another thread, in theory he can improve.

We had to pay KCP, because we actually need him. Hopefully he will realize we don’t need him to take hero shots.

@Weezy KCP right now isn't a big part of the Lakers plans, actually. Purely just a "Klutch tax" as you astutely pointed out. He'll be backing up Danny Green, who the Lakers are going to rely on heavily to be a significant contributor.

I can’t for the life of me believe the Warriors got Willie Cauley Stein for next to nothing. He would have been a huge asset to have in the front court while being an upgrade over Mr. Shaqtin A Fool.

Yeah. I knew we brought him back but hadn’t paid attention to the actual deal.

I always forget his age too. Maybe Vogel and crew can get the most from him.

I disagree with that. Their stats were almost identical last year with McGee playing 5 less mpg, and McGee had a big advantage on him in blocked shots and free throw percentage (51% to 63%). I’d have loved to add him for the minimum, but he clearly wanted to be a Warrior, McGee isn’t a consolation prize at all.

If we learned one thing from this Kawhi situation its that EVERY reporter and insider are fakes, they all said Clippers were out and kept flip flopping between Lakers and Raptors and in the end were really clueless and just flat out lying to all of us.

WCS sucks. That's why he was gotten for nothing. He should get more tattoos, maybe he can be #1 in NBA history in that.

Just found out Paul George asked for a trade. What does that say about Paul George? Remember the stunt he pulled on the Lakers after years of claiming he wanted to be there. This guy has absolutely no morals. Man I'm starting to feel empathy for Russ. This dude here is a major hoe.

Wow just woke up, what a shocking turn of events. I wouldn’t have been worried if Kawhi went to Clippers by himself. But even I have to admit, PG and Kawhi is a hell of a nice duo.... with Pat Beverly as the 3rd pitbull. Ironically we thought Miami did the Lakers a favor by trading their future 1st round pick to the Clippers so they would have the space to sign Jimmy Butler, thus Kawhi won’t have a second star to team up with. That pick went a long way to help the Clippers trade for Paul George who’s the better player. Just wow.

Besides that, I’m not a fan with what the Lakers are doing right now with plan C:

    - I love the Danny Green signing. It’s absolutely what we need and the terms are great. It’s only a 2 year deal so they time their cap space with when Lebron’s contract expires. Who knows how the free agency market looks like in summer 2021.

    - I can understand the McGee signing and find the terms reasonable (essentially $4mil/season).

    - i hate the KCP signing. At $8 mil/season, it cuts our remaining cap space to $5 mil plus the room exception. I would have much preferred to sign Avery Bradley for the minimum once he cleared waivers, and this would allow us to have $13 mil cap space instead to better fill out the roster with depth. I don’t think people realize Bradley is more of a 3 and D shooting guard, he is not a point guard who can create for others. The KCP signing makes the need for Bradley redundant.

Ugh, looks like what the other dominos to fall are we will ultimately resign Rondo to be our starting point guard because he’s best available left on the board (for the 5 mil we have left) We might be able to get Quinn Cook for the minimum.

Really bugs me that I still believe if the whole Magic Johnson fallout never happened, we would have gotten Kawhi days ago. I think the hot mess of Magic abruptly quitting, lighting the front office on fire did the Lakers a lot of harm. If none of that ever happened and they faked a happy marriage this entire time and went into the Kawhi meeting with the perception of a united front office with Rob as the strategist and Magic as the head of basketball operations, we would have been fine.

Now moving forward, we will actually be competing directly with the Clippers as a desired landing destination for a lot of future disgruntled all stars. Only problem is that the rest of the league hates us and we have to pay a Lakers tax in every trade. Other teams don’t have as much of an issue doing deals with the Clippers. I feel OKC traded PG to the Clippers with a fair deal actually. No bs about “over my dead body would I help the Lakers” crap which we had to experience with Indiana, San Antonio, and Pelicans. I hate to say it but I bet Boogie Cousins signs with the Clippers next.

What I really would hope the Lakers do. Is to sign some great player to get us to mid-season and go hard after Bradley Beal or pick up D-lo
