We knew we weren't going to be giving him his max anyway. I don't think this is a leverage play at all. What other team can offer him the max that he wants to be on? PHX and MIN can't as of right now.

I totally believe there is mutual interest between the Lakers and Russell. If we miss out on Kawhi we still need a PG and shooting. Russell at 23 yrs old giving us both of those things. Then we use up the rest of the money to fill out the roster. I know I'm not telling you anything you don't already know. I just don't think this is a leverage play at this time even though there is a lot of that going on around this time leading up to 6pm EST on Sunday

Apparently that’s JJ Reddick’s full name. I figured his middle name would start with a J too so the nickname made sense, but no it’s Jonathan Clay Reddick.

Of course they are, he fits...Utah perfectly, same as he did Indiana and would Boston.

I didn't think Utah had that kind of money to sign Bojan/that kind of player especially after the Conley trade.

    And I disagree bro...

Phx is easy: they stretch-waive Tyler Johnson's 19.3m expiring deal and they have DLo's max... That's even with Oubre's RFA caphold.

    Minny isn't as easy, but:

That's gotta tell you that Minny has got a route to get to his max as well.

Waiting and not acquiring Kawhi may hurt; we may have to flesh out a roster with the JR Smith's the world...

Not necessarily, was reported by the Times on the last page that we might meet with Russ mid-week. I can see some quality free agents waiting to see what Kawhi, Kyrie, and KD do as well before committing anywhere.

So, let's say we don't get Kawhi, Kyrie, Butler, Kemba or DLO.
Then let's say all the lower tier guys have already signed a deal elsewhere.

Do, we pull another year of one year deals and hope we get someone worthwhile next year?
If we strike out at FA, what do we do next?

Still hoping for Kawhi or Kyrie but ........

Just saying, I don't want to be left out of all the quality FA's on the market while we wait for a decision

I don’t either, but if Kawhi is a real, strong possibility, and I’m sure the Lakers have been informed if he is, then it’s a risk worth taking. My point was, if he doesn’t choose us, it appears that at least Russ will still be available, and we can go from there. Realistically the best role players are out of our price range with Kawhi or Russ signing, so it’s really an either or situation, they go for a star, and if they miss they’ll just have to hope some really good role players held out til mid-week.

Look, Kawhi does not come = We sign DAR and a bunch of cheap, yet good role-players. It’s plenty of firepower if the team is constructed well and we get some shooters.

Marks said he spoke to agents and the lower tier isn't going to wait (Green, Rubio tier). That's terrible news for us, cause regardless of a max guy or not, we need bodies and don't want to be picking leftovers.

I don't understand the agents advising their clients to take the money and run. Not unless they're worried the money will dry up, but there's so much money to be had this year.

13 teams. There's not 13 max guys. Do the math.

I’ll wait to see what some of these deals are. If these top role players are getting deals near 20 million I can’t hate on missing out. If it’s in the 13-15 million range and we don’t get a top tier guy, then yes losing someone like Green or Pat Bev to that would be upsetting.

At the end of the day, I think all these dudes know where they want to go and what they want. I actually trust that the Lakers have plan B and C deals lined up already. Plan A is most likely lined up already so there’s a good chance it won’t even get that far.
