I thought you could call agents to set up meetings for FA starting this Sunday but the meeting itself couldn’t legally take place till the next day.

No to JR Smith and Melo.
I would take Ariza, Korver, Collison at vet minimum price.

Also warming up to D Lo coming back but not st his full max. He and AD could help with post Bron transition.

Or your basketball team can be from Houston which gives you the right to contact any potential free agent at any time.

Collison will likely command at least the Room Exception. I could see some team offering much more than that.

That’s true that he will likely get more but for a chance to play for a championship and come back home he would be a nice complementary player who could come at a discount.

I think the reason there are so many conflicting reports about free agency is that there has a been a significant paradigm shift in player self empowerment - away from the GMs. The players are more involved rather than just agents and front offices who typically are more connected to national media guys like Woj hence the media hedging with every tweet. With that logic, I love having both Bron and AD on our side.

In a vacuum, I'd agree. But you can't hit amazing clutch shots when you're hurt and in street clothes. I just don't trust that much money to someone who is chronically injured. Dlo + Danny Green might be more than $32mil, but Dlo + Brook Lopez might be had for Kyrie money.

First of all, acting like we get to choose between Irving and DLo is silly. Irving is making that choice. If he decides to go to Brooklyn, then the Nets release the rights to DLo. Only then does DLo come into play (obviously there's no way the Lakers are going to tie up $20mil+ with an offer sheet, they will only try to get him if he becomes an UFA). I have to admit, I kinda want him back. We scouted him and drafted him #2 surprising a LOT of people who thought we were taking Okafor. Jimmy and Kup selfishly and desperately throwing r******* contracts at Moz and Deng essentially forced us to lose him. I'd hate to see him become what we always hoped he could be after that draft for some other team because of Jimmy & Kup's idiocy...

I don't know if Jimmy Butler actually makes their team better. If they do, how much better? They're going to lose arguably their best shooter in Gordon and Tucker is probably their best hustle/perimeter defender right now. Those two have bought into the system and aren't going to cause trouble. Jimmy Butler is an unknown. Trouble has followed him from Chicago to the Timberwolves. This seems like a hail-mary last resort for the Rockets and they are hoping Jimmy Butler's hometown of Houston will lure him in. Whatever the case, they made a huge mistake resigning CP3.

Whatever you guys think the major roles players are going to sign for (i.e. Beverley's, Danny Green, Redick, etc...) you better add $2-3 million onto that number. This FA year is similar to 2016 with the amount of teams with CAP. I can already tell folks are going to go crazy at what players are signing for.
Dlo catch and shoot 3's at 40% would be lethal especially on the same side as a LBJ & AD pick and roll that you can't help off of.

"Chronically injured" is a bit of a stretch, no? His injuries have been quite random....

DLO on the other hand, has a history of bad knees which is worrisome. So does Kawhi with his knees/quads that require load manfagement. Those are long recurring injuries which I would define as "chronic" more so than Kyrie's injuries.

I wonder how this happens when teams can’t speak to Kemba until that date and time.

I guess MJ doesn't want to give him the max.

I desperately hope you're right. The media has continued constructing a narrative from basically all fronts that we're not interested in any of the big four FAs in Kemba, Kyrie, Kawhi, and Butler. Hell Woj went out of his way to build our argument for Klay and then said, "but it'll be the Clippers". :D

Either we're going to be disappointed come Sunday afternoon or the league will be. I just have the hardest time thinking a team with AD and LeBron, specifically in a big market too, has zero interest from big FAs. How does that work? For years FAs would flirt with LA to get bigger deals, even take meetings here but sign elsewhere. Now when we have the room for them AND the talent to support them, the media thinks we're not in play for ANY of these guys? Something doesn't smell right.
