Hope this is followed by them NOT picking up Avery Bradley's contract. Give him his $2M guaranteed and let him go. Give me a backcourt of DLo and Bradley with the cap space and use the Room Exception on a big and I'm content.

The keys with DLO are price, age and the other guy we signed to me.

Kyrie is an elite scorer no question. But I’ve honestly just never been a big fan. He’s weird and not in a good way. His weirdness seems to spill over. He's already had issues playing with LeBron and is having issues with Boston now. He can say all the right things but I think he still wants to be top dog and I'm not sure how he will adjust to being the third on the pecking order out here.

I think that's a big reason why he's so high on Brooklyn. He want to be the guy and I think he's going to go for it with the Nets.

The Suns now have 15.5m in cap space.

    However if they stretch-waive Tyler Johnson's expiring 19.3m, they'll open up 27.4m....enough for a 25%max player...like DLo.

I'd take Tyler Johnson for the vet minimum if he gets bought out. The buyout market could get pretty interesting.

Check out the balls on Daryl Morey, right? If this was any other FO, they'd be getting laughed at and called out for treating their players like commodities instead of human beings.

But only 1 team is interested in pairing him with LeBron James and Anthony Davis

This is after PJ Tucker comes out to squash the Htown turmoil. This is hilarious. Let's loop in another thirsty GM...

I can totally see Ainge coming in and taking Capela/Tucker into the Al/Ky vacated space for some of their draft picks. Those picks along with up to 4 future first round Htown picks + Gordon to Philly for s&t Butler.

    These GMs aint loyal.

So they'll gut their team just because there may be a chance they can get Jimmy Butler to S&T? They clearly know he'd accept before doing this and potentially screwing themselves... Love it when tampering is reported and people won't care.

@vasashi17 Pincus has the QO for Caruso at 1.6m. His cap hold if the QO is revoked was at 1.4m anyway. We can drop him and sign him for the minimum if he wants to and that'd give us just a minimum charge on him.

For Williams, he'd just become a new 2-way player so I don't think he counts against the cap.

    Thanks for posting @DeeZee .

I almost wouldn’t mind seeing Harden, CP3, and Butler. Harden and CP3 couldn’t get along, add Butler to that and you think it improves? Eh, I kinda like Butler though, I wouldn’t want to have to root against him like he’s a C bag.

Good move, Caruso earned another shot, I hope he makes the actual roster even as a 13-15th man. Nice to have whatever little continuity we can salvage. Well, outside of players like Rondo and KCP anyway.

    Depends what you mean.

    Through age 21, Kyrie's stats are good. He was averaging 20.7 points, 5.8 assists, 3.7 rebounds, on 44.7% FGs, 37.8% 3pt, and 86.2% FTs. His numbers are basically all better than Russ's (14.6, 4.3, 3.6, 40.9, 34.4, and 75.4).

    But neither made the playoffs.

Then, in their age 22 season, both made the playoffs.
    Russ went for 21.1 points, 7.0 assists, 3.9 rebounds on 43.4% FGs, 36.9% 3s, and 78% FTs.
Kyrie with LeBron went for 21.7 points, 5.2 assists, 3.2 rebounds, and shot 46.8% FGs, 41.5% 3s, and 86.3% FTs.

Kyrie had a solid first playoffs, but it was arguably his worst (until this season). 19.0 points, 3.8 assists, 3.6 rebounds, shooting 43.8%, 45.0%, and 84.1%.

Russ, like Kyrie, was below his season averages: 19.4 points, 3.6 assists, 3.6 rebounds, shooting 35.9%, 32.4% threes, and 84.6% FTs.

I take it Kyrie's first four years are just better, with or without LeBron, but there's no comparison piece with young Kyrie and no LeBron. Kyrie was just awful this year without LeBron though.

I see none of them holding up our max cap space.

We can renounce both of their QO/capholds and if they remained unsigned and we then use vet mins or partial room exceptions to sign both, then their full bird rights remain with us into next summer.

We can have a player be a 2way player and take up one of those 2 spots for up to 3 years. So only one of them can take that spot now since Norvell has the other.

What I don't understand tho is if we're looking to match Caruso offer sheets, that means we anticipate him having a market that would pay him more than the vet min amount. So our max 32m slot drops to around 30.5m now before the AD trade, which is 2.2m off Kawhi's max.

What scares me with all of this is that we're operating as if that max slot isn't a lock, unless that max player had indicated to us that they are willing to take a marginal haircut.

    Here's a concern with Kyrie:

    31.0
    27.0
    21.7
    18.0
    20.5
    18.5
    19.0
    18.5

Those are his games missed per season, averaged out from his first season to this year.

Russ isn't the best profile for longterm health, just in terms of his jumper form (those knees coming together isn't good news), but he's not a high flyer, and that helps his case.

    02.0
    10.5
    18.3
    14.0

Russ's health has been better - far better - over his first four seasons.

Kyrie's a great player. He's a better player. But if he's millions of dollars more expensive, then you have to start wondering...

What's Kyrie at age 27-30, with injuries, and with fewer resources to add players? What's Russ at age 23-26, with fewer injuries, and with more resources to add players?

I think Kyrie might still be a better add than Russ, if I'm being totally honest, but it's not obvious.

I agree - Kyrie is the one with the history of not getting along with people and rubbing fans the wrong way. That's not how Brooklyn fans feel about D'Angelo Russell.
