He may approach Steph Curry in terms of talent/impact but mentally he is darn near Lance! The dude is weird and kinda a moody psycho hosebeast.

DLo plays the passing lanes really well. He has nice anticipation. Moreover, I love that the guy is not afraid of the big shot. My son and I watched a lot of BKN games (basketball junkies) and DLo always did something that was super elite during the game. He's fun to watch. The little floater he has is money and I like how he gets to the rim even though he isn't that quick or explosive. He understands angles and just knows how to play.

DLo over Butler is a mistake in my opinion.

Scoop also said KD was going to be a Laker only two months ago. He's not the most credible dude.

Well, word is Durant just declined his player option and he is meandering with his agent in New York. Whether he is a Knick or a Net, likely Irving is going there with him. So those two are off the table on Sunday right off the bat.

    Kemba will stay in Charlotte.

It will come down to Kawhi and Butler on the tier 1 free agents.

June 30th is gonna be a crazy evening.

Dlo is 6 years younger. Would be less money and Dlo skillset would work better with AD and Lebron.

    I would agree.

However, what if Russell comes for $20 million - and you're able to get another high level 3 and D guy?

That scenario comes awfully close to signing a max player like Butler.

The mistake would be: maxing Russell. Don't do that.

Irving already signed with Brooklyn, I think it's tampering, but it's not Lakers , so everything is fine

Several sources —on several occasions— have told NetsDaily that Kyrie Irving is likely headed to Brooklyn, one source saying it sounds like a “done deal”. Another source tied to the Nets believes there is already a verbal agreement in place.

On the DLo vs Butler topic...

I don't think a ball dominant point who doesn't play D is a good fit. You're not maximizing their ability. I'm willing to overlook that with Kyrie because of the talent level and relationship/ success with Bron.

Bron is closer to Butler and would prefer him. That's why he's reached out to him.

Having D covered on the wing (Butler) and post (AD) would make our defense more formidable and easily top 5. Butler helps cover for Bron refusing to play D during the season.

Butler's intensity and preparation would help keep us accountable and bring teammates up to snuff. It's only a problem when you're around kids not up to snuff or about that life (Minny, Philly). And our coaches are from that era and love that s***.

For some reaason, Butler just doesn't move the needle for me.

I love his game for everything that you mentioned, but for some reason, it doesn't translate to wins as it should. ESPECIALLY on a good Sixers team that added both him and Harris. They should have destroyed the Raptors on paper. He's a Tier 2 star, but doesn't have the ceiling to be a 1.

Russell being younger allows him to build on where he's at. He may not be defensively as capable as Butler, but I think he's definitely more offensively adept than Jimmy is. In terms of usage, we've seen many time Lebron try to defer to Ingram or Ball last year, so I could see the offense running through Dlo and AD with Lebron taking breathers. Russell has also never had a teammate quite like AD or Lebron, so even if the ball has to go through Russell, I think he'll have opportunities and options that he's never had before at his arsenal that could allow him to become more efficient than he was last year.

    Completely agree here.

Plus anybody bringing up Kyrie's injuries but glossing over DLo's knees is disingenuous.

DLo can make an amazing pairing offensively with Bron/AD, but no way can dude hold a torch to Kawhi/Butler on the defensive end. It's Kawhi/Butler with the max. Klay with a 2+1 in the 27-30m mark to get a 35% bag later and DLo at the 20-23m mark down the list. 2way wings to shore up our defense is the way to go with that max slot.

DLo at his max of 27m is an absolute no-go for me. Him at 18-20m with about 10m towards a center so that AD plays more 4 is a good contingency tho.

Read on Reddit that Windhorst explained why ESPN is reporting Laker’s at $19 million in cap.

So they are assuming the trade is done without dumping additional contracts, and without AD waiving his kicker. That gets you $23 million. Fair enough, that’s how the deal has currently been reported so far.

But then from there, they are taking off another $4 million because apparently the Lakers HAVE to keep Bullock’s cap hold since it’s such good value.

Yeah ... we’re renouncing Bullock in a second if it means bringing in a star. So disingenuous on ESPN’s part, as usual. When showing other team’s cap, they don’t operate under these kind of assumptions and yesterday they had a headline of the Rockets focusing on a S&T for Butler, downplaying how ridiculously unlikely that is.
