Getting DAR with two main ball handlers who are going to run a lot of pnr.... Seems counterproductive.

Honestly, he's the one that got the short end of the stick. If he's OK with coming back, why on earth would we hold a grudge.

I think his biggest problem was Magic, who’s not here anymore.

I’d be all for DLo making a return as our Plan B if we can’t get Kawhi. We would need to bring in a more defensive minded backcourt mate though. A starting 5 that includes Lebron, Kuz and DLo would be pretty bad on ball defensively lol.

This would be my ideal backcourt mate:

Sign DAR for 21-23 million if BN renounce his rights due to Kyrie going there. And the rest get Beverly and Danny Green. Sign DJ to the bi annual and McGee for the minimum. Bring kuz, Caruso, j Williams, and THT off the bench. Fill the roster with ring chasing vets like Ariza, possibly Carmelo, and see if KCP would do us a LeKlutch favor and take the minimum.

    Dlo/Caruso/UDFA
    Beverly/Green/KCP
    LeBron/Ariza/Melo
    AD/Kuzma/UDFA
    DJ/ McGee/J Williams

    Death lineup:

    LeBron
    Dlo
    Green
    Kuz
    AD

Remember DJ was supposed to be part of the KD recruitment committee. If KD is no longer Knicks bound, DJ is linked to us and has no reason to stay in Nyc.

Also Philly traded Bobby Simmons to the Wiz on draft night. He has a non-guaranteed 6m deal that only guarantees him 1m if waived. Saves the Wiz taxes which is probably part of the reason he got traded there. Bron tried to recruit dude to the Cavs not too long ago. He's yet another vet min target asking with UFA Jeff Green from the Wiz.

Free up cap space to get the third star in Kawhi, Kyrie or Butler. Thereafter the rest of the roster will fill up itself.
It's simple math, not rocket science.

Durant leaving Golden State would be huge. Even when Klay gets back from his ACL, they're still shouldn't be viewed as unbeatable. Davis/LeBron/Max FA would, in my opinion, be the biggest threat league-wide even if that max FA isn't Kawhi. Say it's Kemba or Kyrie or Jimmy Butler, that trio is still stronger than anything anyone else has.

I don’t think we have the money to sign every player you mentioned. No way Beverly, green, DJ or ariza go that cheap in a year where so many teams have cap space. I’d love it though if it were to happen.

Ariza is done. I saw him clanking shots in Houston a year ago like Horry was in 2003. Time has passed on that one.

Lakers can get cheap good labor, they would have to wait til all the teams finished overpaying half of the league so when teams don't have anymore money, Lakers can be an option for players at low cost.

Yeah. Looks like D-Lo is saying as much. And Magic was the one with the harsh comments. Just figured there’d still be some animosity towards Rob but good on D-Lo for not carrying a grudge.

These numbers avg around to 28m per which means in year 1, it could start around 25m.

With the cLips having roughly 56m in cap, I can see a max and near 25m being sold to Kawhi where Al is his new running mate. It would be formidable for the short term. Hope Al gives no give on his contract demands tho, cause then it would lead to the cLips not having enough as is for both unless they stretch or trade Gallo.

If anything, D'Lo returning would be a way to stick it to Magic. "You didn't want me and gave me away in a salary dump. You leave and they sign me for 20+ million. Suck it, Magic!"
