Is the 10th year perk thing the 10th year or after playing 10 full years? Butlers 10th year is this upcoming season. No way he takes less than max if we don’t get the full $32mil

Vas, you’ve officially lost your damn mind. I wouldn’t take on CP3 the person + CP3 the contract for 10 draft picks. I wouldn’t give up Kuz for him either, I’d honestly rather have Kuz’s limited potential than CP3’s aging, insanely injury prone a**, an a roster of literally LeBron, AD, and CP3 and zero else going into free agency.

Pete Zayas keeps saying on both his podcasts that all of Kawhi, Kyrie, Klay, Butler and Kemba fall under the 7-9 years max contract label. Which I guess makes them eligible for like %30 of the salary cap. He also said something like 6 years or less and your max is %25 of the cap, which cleared things up for me a bit, helps clear up why guys like Towns and Wiggins got what they did and what Russ this year and Ingram next will be eligible for. Also I believe Butler is going into his 9th NBA season next year.

I think any team that takes CP3 contract off of Houston’s hands should be outlawed from being in the playoffs for 5 years. Hell to the no.

I wonder if Cousins would take the Room exception? Warriors can't pay him more than like 6 mil if I'm not mistaken

I've been mistakenly throwing out misinformation on this...but I don't feel too bad about it cause most of y'all don't have the attention span to read through it anyways (I blame sirron). Haha.

I totally overlooked the zero year mandate in Coon's CBA FAQ.

0 (ie no experience)-6 seasons of experience = 25% max
    7-9 seasons of experience = 30% max
    10+ seasons of experience = 35% max

Kawhi, Kyrie, Klay, Kemba, Butler can all get 2+1 30% deals (I apologise cause I erroneously stated 1+1), opt out in the 3rd year and get the 35% max. If they do this with whatever team, they will be eligible for early-bird rights that give them 4yr max deals at 8% annual escalators. Meanwhile a full bird right player can have a 5yr max.

Again, for those that read my CBA thread, sorry for the confusion fam.

If that is the case...Then lakers should look to give 2 year deals to everyone so that they can go at Kawhi/Kyrie/Klay etc in 2 years to pair with AD as LeBron will be winding down by then and we'll have cap space that summer to get 2 of the 3...and Kuzma will also be an FA.

This is ONLY if we don't get any of them this year and they sign the 2+1's...

We don't have an MLE this year. Only the Room and Vet Minimums. We have the MLE next year at about 9 mil.

CP3's contract is so bad the league may have to craft some kind of one-off "Allen Houston" type rule to rescue the Rockets from it.

About 4.8m is the room based on a 109m salary cap. BRI is projected to be higher than anticipated so all cap related numbers could see a bump.

MLE kicks in when we're operating as an over the cap team. So if we land our max guy this summer, we'll get the MLE next year. There are 2 versions: tax payer MLE = 5.4m (ie BroLo signed for this in Milwaukee) and the non-tax payer MLE = 8.7m (ie Jules signed for that with the Pels).

After we use up all our cap, we have three room and vet mins (~1.5m) to round out the roster outside of the AD trade expanding to more players or a 3rd team.

When the rumor came out that Kawhi was good in taking a short term deal with Toronto, I felt that was a nontampering way of his camp saying, they won't entertain full 4yr 30% max deals. Instead they will build up Kawhi's bird rights with his new team (if he leaves Toronto) and take that 35% max deal when the time comes.

Btw, Toronto, through attaining his bird rights, is the only team that can offer him a full 5yr 30% max with 8% annual escalators. We world be able to do the same with AD next summer after he opts out.

So if Kawhi took a 2+1 with us this summer for slightly less than max, after 2 years we could give him a full 5 year supermax regardless of our cap scenario?

Yes. To any of these guys, and as many as possible if that’s what we have to spend. Best list I’ve seen so far, contains no washed up players riding on a name people still know or headcases among them.

Any list that doesn’t have Pat Bev on it is wrong. He is exactly what this team needs.

But but them draft picks tho.

Hmmm, what can I do to make y'all ketchup with this wild scenario?

How about for 4 draft picks and 6 pick swaps? [/Activating NOgo-tiator skill]
