he may not have the vision of young, the power of lillard, or the work ethic of curry, but he's in that general mold. probably a poor man's version of one of those.
TBH, I’m not gonna lose any sleep if AD ends up getting traded somewhere else. Sign Butler and roll with the kids. Lonzo, Ingram, Kuzma, Hart, Garland is a bright future.
I was thinking about this too and I think it had more to do with the type of youth in minny. Towns and Wiggins are blue chip talent with swaggy p maturity and work ethic. Kuz and zo seem a little silly for butlers liking, but he’ll love BI, IMO.
Butler has clashed with young players in Minny and Chicago. He chilled out in Philly because he pretty much had to. Not convinced he’s reformed. Failing to make any moves or signing a top free agent would be a failure by the front office. No way around that and we will hear about it over and over again. Even if he acts right I’m sure how big signing Butler would be or if him and the kids are enough given their injuries and inconsistent play. Plus we lost DLO and Randle and some pretty useful guys like Lopez and Lou on this dream of a big star. Butler is better than nothing but I’d still have concerns and wouldn’t exactly call it a huge win by the front office.
^^^When I come at you, it's straight ninja-style...you won't see me coming. As of right now, my guy Magic big pictured Bron and a running mate. Yeah it be disappointing if it was Bron with George or Butler. But it looks like it's AD, with the potential for a 3rd or at the very least tier 2 free agents like Bojan, Niko, or salary absorbing guys like E.Gordon. Either way this tired topic has been in the Vash-cycle way too long. But the bottomline is the cap game would be for a Bron-AD scenario, not a Bron-Butler one and you round out the roster from there. Speaking of which, the 2nd round pick-less Lakers sure look to be interested in rounding out the roster with 2nd round win-now talent. Either they got moves lined up to get a 2nd round pick or they will try to bring in undrafted talent later. But the optics here is that they need to round out the roster with college seniors/upperclassmen.
I've watched a lot of film breakdowns between Culver and Garland - the ones Mike Schmitt from ESPN put together and the one Pete put tgoether. I've also listened to a number of different podcasts on the draft and I'm officially wanting the Lakers to go with Darius Garland over Jarrett Culver. Culver's shot mechanics are pretty iffy and while he has a better all around game then Garland at this point. Garland's shooting ability (off the dribble, catch and shoot, pull ups) and handle are top notch for anyone in this draft class. We need that in spades with the shooting more than Anthony. Klutch client or not Garland needs to be our pick. Plain and simple.
Makes sense too from a cap standpoint if we can round out any remaining spots with 2nd rounders or something similar to that it only helps. I trust our staff to find another gem or try to in that 2nd round if a pick does materialize for us in some way.
