    This was always a thing, it’s just “legal” now. No way deals were agreed to at 12:01 AM July 1st and the player’s agent and team hasn’t been speaking prior to midnight. What’s funny is now we’ll see players agreeing to deals at 6:01 PM on June 30th.

    The only FO that didn’t talk to players early was Mitch and company. I still remember a video of Metta, where he was surprised when the Lakers called him after free agency started. I’m sure he was already talking to teams and excepted anyone interested in him had already called his agent.
