Question.. Did we ever officially make Monty an offer..?
I'm getting frustrated with the Media spin that all the Lakers top options turned them down..
Lakers & Lue were on different pages on the length of contract & as far as I know, we never officially made an offer to Williams.
As usual, this whole thing seems like 80% Media creating Drama.

    never made an offer

if you believe the spin, it was on purpose to make Lue a clearer #1. Allegedly

Came across this from a reporter:

Aligns exactly with what I have been hearing this whole time. Kurt's initial push for Kidd was what influenced the hiring, even though he wanted Hollins by the end of it. His words along with Phil Jackson's were strongly in the forefront of Jeanie's mind as she made the final decision.

Funnily enough, Kurt was pushing Kidd and the 3 year deal to avoid Lue so that he could go for Hollins. But it backfired.

Also, looks like the information I got about Kurt wanted to ascend to become the president of basketball operations, even without the actual title, is holding true. However this article seems a touch outdated, as the latest info I got is saying Kurt is struggling to fill this void now. But it's a very dynamic situation. And worst case, he'll end up on the bench.

Everyone is a little uncomfortable with the front office which has done a poor job of communicating their plans and status now that Magic has left. Apparently the Luke thing was pretty bad and it all came down to his assistants. So now we know Pelinka is effectively in charge but there is a management team that discusses major decisions. That team includes Joey and Jessie Buss and the Rambis family plus Jeanie and Rob. We also know that Jeanie leans on outside help from Phil and Magic. So far it seems like they have some miscommunication and strategy issues. The Lue issue was botched. It should have never been leaked until the deal was done. They should have never announced that he was the hire until they worked out the assistant coach details. They blew the communications and the negotiation but in the end he was not going to be the right coach if he and the Front Office can't be on the same page out of the starting gate. The only mistake they made though was not figuring that out before it leaked that he was the choice pending final negotiation. Just be cause the botched the communications doesn't mean that the strategy for picking the coach was wrong.

I know things look messed up but I am hopeful that we are getting on the right track. Magic leaving is probably a blessing in disguise. Jeanie would always be loyal to Magic but the job is a 24x15x7 job and apparently that is not Magic work ethic. If I had a billion dollars I would want to enjoy the fruits of my labor too. So now Jeanie is being forced to be the big and final decision maker just like her Father was. She has people she trusts who have been very successful to help council her and she has a hard working really smart GM and now she has the beginnings of a good coaching staff. She has a great scouting department run by her brother, a group of very talented young resources, Lebron James and 35M in cap space. All is not lost and I think we over react to what has happened after Magic left. I suspect they will be better orchestrated as they interact with the fans on changes to the team in the future. Jeanie and Rob will need to step up this off season and start making better decisions. Letting Randle go for nothing was really stupid and so was the Zubac trade. Those weren't just bad moves they were mind blowing unbelievably stupid moves. They squandered valuable resources for no good reason. Anyway maybe Magic owns those decisions as he was in charge. So I am willing to see what they do this off season to improve the team. Trading away valuable resources that are about to break out at cheap prices is probably not a good idea. Convincing a big name FA to come here would be a great step. An AD trade would depend on the price we have to pay. A Butler or Walker signing to me is quite iffy. Resigning KCP to a long term deal would be horrible. Anyway I think we all need to chill a bit and see how things shake out.

We will know soon enough if things are really going south. Right now I have decided to have hope for the future.

Key note: This quote was after his time in Indiana.

    https://www.indystar.com/story/spor...s-had-un-learn-lot-what-he-believes/83502024/

I hope that he's learned about what went wrong in Orlando. As we've seen from other hires, sometimes it takes a change in scenery to make improvements. Just look at Pringles in Houston and at Clifford in Orlando.

If we wanted some of Lue's offense, I think Larry Drew will be one they should hire.

How is Vogel better than Luke? We basically fired a guy to make a lateral move. The goal with Lue was he was a BETTER coach than Luke AND he had LeBron’s respect. Now we’ve hired a defensive guy that hopefully can adapt on offense, and the guy LeBron reportedly respects is the assistant who is a snake.

Predictable media spin? Ramona, Jeanie’s mouthpiece, confirmed the exact same reasons Jason Kidd wasn’t outright hired as head coach.

Right. Everything, including his criminal history, is well known. No spin other than our front office trying to ease him down our throats as eventual head coach.

I mean, it’s done now. Not sure what else to even say on it.

We gotta all hope LeBron is a great recruiter and can lure in some top guys. Get a Kawhi and this probably doesn’t matter. Vogel is a solid coach even though not really an improvement. He won’t lift us to the next level but I don’t think he’ll fall on his face with a talented line up.
