It's not really that risky for me. My traditional career is over and I've done well. I server as an outside "consultant" (that's my official title) for AEG but really I'm more of a deal maker. Hence me facilitating discussions with New Balance. There's no employer here as I'm an independent contractor and while people work for me, I don't work for anybody. Also nothing about my work relates directly to the Lakers or the NBA. What I was doing for Kleiman is just a favor for AEG. I'm just a fan at heart. And I only share what I feel comfortable with.

I also didn't give away any details about the actual meat of my call with Kleiman, if you paid close attention :) Don't want to say what exactly I'm doing for Kevin. But it's not that secretive anyways to be honest. If you've watched the Kevin Durant offseason documentary from a few years ago, there's a scene in there were Kleiman is upset and calling someone in my office about setting up a house near UCLA. We shared a laugh about that.

Life's too short anyways, to worry about what may happen. My motto is to move forward and ask for forgiveness later, if needed.

    We can always vet him.

I have some ways, but I have refrained...

I don't intend to fool anybody :) I just want to discuss the Lakers with some fellow fans, and I'm happy to share anything I know to contribute to the discussion.

I hope that the limited confirmation about a few things I've said thus far puts you at ease. But as I said earlier, I have been wrong in the past. Don't hold it against me :)

When something is posted here before it's posted anywhere that is unmistakably true and earth shattering, I'm sure you'll get what you are looking for. Otherwise, filling in some blanks with random facts that seem plausible but hold no weight one way or the other might be entertaining to some. For me, too many little red flags to ignore Roo.

    :Noddingyes:

I'll tell you where you slipped up laterz. Until then...

    :Lonzoball Watching:

Until then, people should consider that any business relationship in these types of positions include non compete and non disclosure legal paperwork. You simply don't do what you are doing and broadcast it on the web.

I encourage skepticism of any and all reporting, so keep it coming. Like I said, things I hear are just rumors, at the end of the day.

I'm all too familiar with NDAs, but nothing I am telling you guys is directly related to my day job. I guess maybe the percentages Dennis and Kawhi's agents are getting on the New Balance deal, but that's an industry standard so I doubt it matters. As far as non-competes go, I'm an independent contractor and don't work for anyone, so there's nothing for me to "compete" against someone else ;) These are all casual conversations I'm having with certain people who happen to be wired into what's going on with the business side of the Lakers. And they know I'm a die hard fan so they'll feed me bits here and there. But at the end of the day, nobody cares about the basketball side. It's all about media revenues, which are worth a lot more money.

The big news, you'll hear from ESPN before me anyways, so no need to worry there :)

Is going "postal" still a thing? If this is a RamBonkScooter situation being perpetrated it's time for Italians here who know people who know people.

Seems like people aren't loving the possibility of Kyrie. I for one will welcome him with open arms. We need to matter and he's someone who meshes really well with LeBron on the court. It wasn't long ago those two and role players took down the Warriors. LeBron is older and I get that, but considering we've been hovering at 30ish wins for half a decade I'll gladly take a duo with a proven track record.

Beggars can’t be choosers, that’s why I take Kyrie, issues and all. No, he proved he’s not Batman, but he doesn’t need to be next to LeBron, and if we add him then trade for AD somehow. Of course I want KD, but I’m not turning down any of the K’s, hell I’m not turning down Butler or 2nd tier stars like that either, we need to win NOW.

I'm just concerned we won't get to see BI do his amazing ISO's if we have Kyrie

Ball and Ingram will get neutered if we bring in a ball dominant second star, especially if its a guard. Kind of why I'd be sort of okay with trading them for AD if we do get one of the K's. Klay fits almost perfectly by being a defensive stopper and a catch and shooter.

Reading Kyrie having the Lakers in his consideration gives me hope. We might get a LeBron/Kyrie reunion here in L.A. they won a title together, so "IF" he comes the experience can help the team.
