Nice write-up JSJ, but Jeanie's really been exposed to bball ops for it 2 years. Year 1: clean the books. Year 2: Bring in Bron and give him the opportunity to pair up with a 2nd max guy while keeping the kids for trade or development.

LJ imo had a great take in another thread, and I just want to piggy back off it cause it's Jeanie related.

This gives me hope that there is still rational critiquing among us.

Jeanie honored her father's wishes and kept Jim/Mitch employed. It led to MozDeng and absolutely no free agents giving us a thought. Heck, even Dwight was more hellbent on getting traded to BK rather than us. Jeanie had no inside look with our bball ops till those dudes were gone. Magic/Rob clean our books in year 1 and grab Bron in year 2. All while, George, Kawhi and AD primarily demand trades to us...not the cLips, not BK, not NY. Bron chose us...not the cLips, not NY, not Philly (who had his mans there).

Also Dr. Buss hired from within...West, Riles, heck even having Rambis and Magic coach were all done under the Doc's watch. Jeanie is following that same model. Maybe she needs to shed that mentality and change with the times, but remember going out of house led MDA, Mike Brown and Rudy3.

She can go for guys like Presti...but Okc lost 2 MVPs, hasn't returned to the Finals since and now they too have a coaching problem. She can go for guys like Buford, who just lost Kawhi under his watch and has really done nothing remarkably proactive in terms of trades...so it's primarily SA's drafting. And what's the concensus around here after Chaz's spot was taken over by Jesse?

So let's get that all out the way first.

But there is something clearly rotten here and Jeanie has allowed that to manifest. She forced a trinity of Magic, Rob and Luke to fit. Now we're getting an understanding that Kurt has to somehow fit. What worked for her Dad, may not work for her. And even if it did work, West actually bailed once Phil came on board to go do the same job with Memphis. Magic bailed and this guy has taken on one of the most deadliest autoimmune diseases for 3 decades.

Something is definitely rotten within the Lakers and I hope to gawd they figure it out sooner rather than later (as in Bron, AD and Kawhi flashin us deuces).

I, like those clowns on First Take, wouldn’t actually mind LeBron having more influence in personnel moves and such. LeBron would have hired Lue, our idiot FO did not. LeBron is more qualified for the job than Kurt and Linda freaking Rambis, hell he’s probably more qualified than Pelinka.

Sadly, you're 100% correct. LeBron is the most competent member of the Lakers organization right now, and that's so depressing I'm going to light myself on fire.

Currently the 2 most powerful people in the Los Angeles Lakers organization. This physically pains me.

I cannot see the image, but I am assuming you mean Kurt and Linda.

Linda has always been powerful, to be honest. The difference is that now she's stepping into the basketball side, and using Kurt to do it.

Kurt's situation is very dynamic. He is trying to fill this power void left my Magic, but he is an amateur when it comes to corporate politics, and it shows. That may be his demise. I'll keep you posted on what I hear.

The fact that she is listening to advice from Kurt Rambis and now Phil Jackson just shows what a dunce she is.

In one ear is the man that is failing up
In the other is the worst PBO ever in NBA history

Jeanie you are literally too stupid to insult. Lebron save us please.

Seriously, why the HELL would we be taking advice from the Knicks front office that was one of the worst I’ve ever seen a few years ago? The only good thing they did was draft Porzingis, and Phil didn't even want to do that, all he did was s*** all over the kid in the media.

It hasn’t even been reported that Rambis and Phil were directly pushing for Vogel right now. Just stating the fact that they liked Vogel a few years ago (when he was a hot commodity coming off the Pacers gig, so that’s nothing surprising or unique).

Mr. Rambis (the guy here, not the real Kurt) even reported that Kurt has been pushing for Hollins.

Woj used the fact that many teams wanted Vogel 2 years ago to spread the narrative of our front office’s dysfunction.

Obviously this whole process HAS revealed dysfunction, but the Vogel hire itself seems to be the best option after the debacle our dysfunction has led us to.
