Suns made him feel very wanted. That matters.

I hope whoever we choose we make them feel wanted. Nobody wants to feel like a fallback position.

Luke was more a relationship coach than an X&O's guy...so maybe that's why the Lakers didn't rush to make him an offer.

    Per the Philly Voice:
My number one concern is Lue's health...but if he fortifies his bench with legit defensive stalwarts while he handles Bron & the X&Os then maybe Lue is the way to go. My only want from Monty is that he had great relations with AD, Kawhi and KD. But maybe we really don't need Monty to sell one or more of those dudes to come here (see Shaw with that George individual).

But still why no offer to Lue yet?

Dark horse candidate: Juwan Howard has Bron ties from Miami, Rob ties from Michigan, Riles ties that could appeal to Jeanie/Kurt as an assistant coach, and mob ties to handle the kiddies if they don't swim. Maybe Howard joins Kurt on Lue's bench?

I'm all for taking your time to make the right decision, but this can also come across as lack of unity, lack of concrete vision and direction, lack of leadership, etc.

If they wait too long on the best candidates, they will be gone. Are we waiting for a playoff coach to potentially be fired? lol

I don't see any of those guys being available regardless of results actually.

Cleveland called him a catfish when they were unhappy with him.

Ty Lue would be the same b******* pick of the past. I hope they have a plan here.

My post was based on the media-driven narrative of our incompetence.

Nothing about this process comes across to me as actually demonstrating incompetence on our end.

Ty Lue made great coaching adjustments against a superior GS Warrior 73 win team and came back from 1-3 in the Finals to beat them.

He just got some pretty solid praise from LFR.

I'd say he seems like the best qualified coach at this point that appears to be on our radar.

Juwan Howard is completely unproven, and Monty was a better people coach than XO's coach apparently. We just had that in Luke Walton, so I'm ok going in a different direction than that. My biggest concern for Lue would be health.

Other than those guys, who else is out there?

yes, i'm referring to the media narrative, the hiring process isn't necessarily a sign of incompetence but when you mention people like the Rambi's are involved...that equates to incompetence to me. I mean what do they know about HC, one is supposedly a marketing person the other has failed miserably several times as a HC

I’m good with this. The majority say Lue is the better coach, that’s what we need here. I also like that part of Lue’s pitch was that he’d try to get top assistants (like Thibs, even if he weren’t interested), that matters, that’s something Luke lacked and wouldn’t fix.

If Lakers hire Lue proves Rob is snakelike with not helping his Fab 5 buddy .... Juwan.

Lue has been spoken highly of, that he is a good coach is top priority, but that he has a good relationship with LeBron also matters. My main concern from the start with him was his anxiety, if he has that in check, and he adds a top notch staff, I’m good.

Ty should just say "f*** it" and chill with his family for another year or two. We hire Kurt, Dunlevy or some other schmo and still remain the laughing stock of the league.

Phil Handy is apparently on the Raptors staff now, was with Lue in Cleveland though, maybe Lue could get him back, he could follow Kawhi. [IMG]

I think this is going to happen:

    - Kyrie signs with LA
    - LA trades the rest for AD

    Kyrie Irving
    Josh Hart
    LeBron James
    Anthony Davis
    Javale McGee

That is a team that can compete for it all.

    Kyrie < Steph
    Hart << Klay
    LeBron = KD
    Anthony Davis >> Whoever
    McGee < Draymond
