I still feel like a Webber/Odom hybrid is a closer model to Randle's physique, gifts and game. Dude puts it on the floor after a board like Odom. He bangs it up a bit and seems to want to shoot outside as well. Booz is more of an on the block and fadeaway shooter to me. I don't see Randle following in those footsteps. But I don't really care who we talk about or compare him to at this point because he's played less than one whole game in the NBA thus far. Can't wait to see him next year. When he went down that first game the life of the season was gone, IMO. It was over. I really like Julius - I feel like he has the potential to be a star.

Randle has two weaknesses on offense; he sets poor ball-screens and his jumper isn't great presently. That's it. He has one of the top 5 NBA rip-thru moves currently. He doesn't have one of the NBA's top handles, but it's definitely effective for a guy his size and the position he plays; as a matter of opinion, he has better handles than Blake in the half-court. He has incredible touch around the rim, is an above average athlete who you could put on the perimeter, on the block, on the elbow, and he could pretty operate from anywhere you put him because of his versatility. You know one of the things I look for in telling if a guy is going to be a stud? It's when that player has the ability to get to his spot and the defense can't stop him. That's a telltale sign that a guy just has it. Randle did that all through Summer League and the Pre-Season.

I get it, though. No one has seen the ball handling Pf template that Randle is.. So there's no gauge. He can be unguardable. Will he not be a great finisher at the rim? Maybe, but he has great touch. And his defender won't be able to contest optimally because he's off balance ,back pedaling, reacting to pump fakes off dribble moves. Positions they're not used to being in.

This is worst case scenario mind you. So if he's not a great finisher over length, his mid range J will still be unguardable, and he'll rack up more assists. It's why I want to pair him with a center that can catch lobs and space - be his outlet on the drive when the help defender comes, which is usually a big man protecting the rim. So if that's the case I see him as a 17 and 6 assist player. And also turning it up on the boards to just contribute as much as he can, he has that winners mentality/dog in him.

I expect him to be a 20 and 5 assist guy. About what Blake Griffin is. But I can easily see him being just as good. Ceiling, better than Blake.

I take it in LeBron we've seen a ball handling PF with better vision and passing than Randle, but I'll agree with probably everything else you've said.

I hear you about pairing him up with that kind of center. Defending, get on the break guy. That's why if I were the FO and ended up at the 5 spot on draft day I might take a gamble on WCS. With Ed Davis at backup 4 and Black at back up 5 that could be one heck of a Front court for the future. Then go spend on a starting caliber SF in free agency without going over the top. Grab a veteran PG at a decent price and you are in business.

I dig it. I just don't know that I love Cauley-Stein at #5 ahead of some other, more talented guys. I'd probably draft the SF there (Winslow or Johnson), then pick-up a guy like Asik or Robin Lopez. Add in Mo Williams too...

    Clarkson/Williams/Price
    Bryant/Ellington/Brown
    Johnson/Young
    Randle/Black/Kelly
    Asik/Davis

    Let's do it.

The D-League team that played the last game of the season probably could have.

LMAO. Good. Then that will motivate him to stay healthy, work his butt of next year, so he could contribute to what hopefully will be an upgraded roster an a winning team...

I could absolutely get with that as well realdeal! I could see going either way in that regard - draft a C and try to get an SF in FA, or draft an SF and go after a C in FA. Either way. I like the idea of Asik - didn't know he was available.

I saw his name brought up somewhere else. Honestly I didn't know he was available either. But if I'm mistaken, then his name can be replaced with Robin Lopez who I think is expendable up in Portland.

Not sure Portland agrees with you. He is a big part of what they are doing. Let's be honest, if Matthews doesn't blow out his achilles, Portland probably stays in the 2nd best record in the conference race. I think they will definitely try to resign him. He allows Aldridge to operate more freely. And looking at Robin's hair, he seems to be a great fit in Portland. :D

But as or your lineup above, Asik/Randle/Johnson or Winslow (I'm partial to Winslow)/Kobe/Clarkson would be great I would rather we take a big and sign Middleton or Harris, but if your lineup comes to fruition, I'll be pleased.

He's definitely a character. Maybe Robin is important to them, maybe not. They signed Kaman this last summer and they have that young kid they're developing as well. If Robin gets a decent offer, I think he's gone.

Unless of course Aldridge leaves. If Aldridge leaves, then there's less chance they let go of Robin.
