SMFH...we can't even tank right. Oh NOWWWW the vets are playing well when the games no longer matter? EFF OFF!!

Had a solid chance at 6/7/8 spot and now, we're looking at potentially 11th with Twolves tanking hard.

Oh, and we're not playing any of our young guys who are actually going to be on the team next year...

Yep, love watching McGee, Rondo and KCP play 38 minutes while Wagner gets 11...awesome.

Been quite a while since I posted here. Maybe since Kobe retired?

And I hate to post again in this thread, but my NBA experience for quite a while now has been incredibly frustrating, which is something a lot of users here share to some degree at the very least. So I'll just whine, moan and complain a bit here.

First of all, I'm obviously a Lakers fan, like 99.9% of this forum. Since we were on top of the world in 2010, we've been constantly going down.

Then in 2013, almost at the end of the season, all of us Lakers fan (and many basketball fans as a whole) lost part of their soul when Kobe went down with the Achilles. This might've been the worst moment for me because, we lost our star, we knew this meant being swept in the Playoffs, and we knew it was the end of a 15+ years run of something really special we had going on in L.A. Not only that, it meant that for the rest of the season I needed to watch Dwight without watching Kobe and it was a really tragic end to a season I felt was inspiring beyond basketball, as Kobe very literally put this team on his shoulders and for much of the second half of the season, made them play as one of the best teams in the league. With a healthy Kobe at that level I felt we could win against anybody... then again, we all knew (except D'Antoni it seems) that putting all that weight on Kobe was bound to have repercussions. At least it was amazing to watch Kobe that season.

Then the real nightmare began. We had to start checking draft prospects after almost a lifetime were we barely knew what the heck was this thing they called "draft". Years and years were by the end of the season we were almost forced to root for losses rather than wins, even though I personally find tanking one of the most disgusting things in sports (but I can't blame teams, since the system supports it). And it's been years of this, to the point I kinda feel more angry than frustrated about it. My one moment of happiness (in regards to basketball) has been Kobe's last game, which I feel I've probably seen more than I've seen the actual Lakers since that game happened.

Then, after sucking so much, we get some nice players, maybe not once-in-a-generation players , but potential All-Stars and such, and we not only lost them, but we don't really receive nothing in exchange. We let Randle go for nothing and we wrap and gift Russell just to free up space of a contract that to this day nobody can understand why in the world we gave it in the first place.

I'm not a LeBron fan. I think LeBron is a legend, but I've never thought having LeBron is a free pass to the Playoffs, at least not in the West, and the only way signing him and his 34 years to this team can pay is by having him build one of his superteams here (which is not a style I'm terribly fond of, but I'm willing to sell my soul to the devil in order to tie and/or pass Boston in chips). While my expectations were lower than most, this team managed to be even worse than I expected, and kinda worked against the good vibes I felt from last season. I felt last season we had a young team that grew up quite a lot, and I'm not sure how much of that we have left. I was loving Randle and we obviously don't have that anymore. Not only we didn't do well, but I couldn't really have fun at all with this Lakers team, and while I'd love to eat my words at some point in 2020, I don't really have much faith in our future, since I don't like the place we're in. And if I haven't liked the way this ship has been steered for years, there's nothing giving me hope for the near future.

I'm a Lakers fan, so I'm always checking how they're doing, I watch some games and root for whoever is wearing a Lakers jersey, but this teams really pisses me off.

But it's not all about the Lakers. It can be even worse. I'm annoyed with the NBA itself. I hate the direction it's taking. I hate this three point era with all my being. This is not fun basketball for me. Players have great levels of skills, but everything is three pointers, fastbreak dunks and free-throws. I can perfectly understand that the system might be giving results, but I don't like it. I don't enjoy it at all.

Then there's James Harden. I don't think he's a bad guy or something like that. But he's currently representing all I hate about current basketball, while doing things I would normally love to cheer. A player scoring 50 points at any given night like it's nothing? Sure, he's not a Laker, but that's something I can enjoy. I love watching a great scorer. I enjoyed MJ, Iverson or T-Mac even if they weren't Laker players. But Harden annoys me. I feel like I'm watching someone who discovered a glitch in a video game and it's now completely abusing that glitch. From forcing fouls through flopping and searching for contact in a very excessive way, to doing some of the most horrendous travels to gain space at times... and just abusing of the three point line. I can't even blame him. How could I if it actually works. He's not even an elite shooter yet he'll be over 1000 3-point attempts this season when not even Curry has been over 900. He has more freaking free throws than field goals. I mean, if he can get away with it, I understand him doing him. I'm actually angry at the league for allowing such thing to happen. And of course, it doesn't allow me to enjoy a player scoring 60 points multiple times, which is something I would usually be applauding.

I haven't been able to enjoy the NBA for years now. I can't just forget about it because I've been following this league religiously pretty much since I have memory, but it's been incredibly frustrating.

So not only we suck, but I can't even enjoy watching other teams all that much.

Besides the Lakers, I will always root for the team that goes against the current style of play the NBA has right now. And I can only hope for things to change at some point in the future, both for the NBA and the Lakers.

Ah, feel a bit better after letting all of that go.

you encapsulated five years of my harden rants in one paragraph, so bravo, sir.

i feel you, in general. it's been exceptionally rough--in part because we've experienced serious fan highs as laker fans. remember that most teams don't get those highs, and a six-year playoff drought wouldn't be as publicized and ridiculed in almost any other nba city.

i also agree that there's little reason to be confident in current management, but...and as much as this is terrible timing...the fact that lebron chose to come here, when anyone would have taken him, means the brand is still relevant. as long as that's true, things can happen. it's really time for ownership to step up, imo. if rob and magic don't deliver an a-lister this summer, clean house. model this franchise on some of those who have had success with lesser means, then beat them at that game with our greater resources.

    but yeah, for now...ugh.

Combine this with McMenamin saying Corey Brewer told Paul George all he needed to know about what being a Laker is like, and George then not even giving us a meeting, and ouch, everyone piling on.

So we waived a partially-guaranteed deal before it became fully guaranteed. It was a vet min and was waived in January, allowing other teams to claim him off waivers, yet no team did. He had a high risk pregnant wife in Australia and his grandfather had died (which is why he left the country instead of join a playoff bound team later in the year).

So let's look at it this way...we promised him at the beginning of the year that we would keep him for the year on a non-guaranteed deal, essentially making it fully guaranteed at year's end. If we made that promise at the start of the year...why not just give him a fully guaranteed deal at the start of the year and leave out all the hassle?

Men lie... Women lie... Numbers don't.

Btw, his agent really didn't make a stink of having his other client Reggie Bullock traded to the Lakers. If we're so untrustworthy, why have his client and his bird rights head to that team? Just don't report and try to nix the deal.

I don’t believe Bogut, I posted it because I’m complaining that people are piling on while we’re down. First, it says “if healthy”, and I don’t remember if he was or not, but I’d guess not. Second, the story at the time was we cut him so he could go to a playoff team. And third, Bogut has a history of saying stupid s*** or whatever the hell he wants to the media, he’s been kind of an a**. Lastly though, again, even if I were posting to talk bad about the FO, I continue to fail to see why you feel the need to defend them in the WHINE MOAN COMPLAIN thread, a thread designed entirely for venting, irrationally so even. Nothing in here needs to be argued against or disproven, this thread is specially for judgment free complaining, WHINING even, which by definition means “to utter a low, usually nasal, complaining cry or sound, as from uneasiness, discontent, peevishness”, so is essentially making fun of us for doing so by its very title. It’s not a serious thread.

Weez I maintain that I wmc about the Lakers unnecessaryily getting piled on.

There's constructive criticism and then there's whatever the f*** this is haha.

Im venting about how non-stories become stories for clickbait.

Zu's come out and said he wasn't talking s*** on the Lakers.

DLo's come out and said he did need to grow up and that the trade was probably the best thing for his career to take off. KD had to ice the media after the toxic comments.

They did all that cause their comments were edited and aggregated in a way that made them look a certain way. And they didn't want that.

Im venting about the irrational hate and the thirst to paint our franchise in a bad light. Just cause my venting is based in some degree of rationality (hey, at least I think so haha), doesn't mean it doesn't belong or can't be posted in this thread.

Btw, couldn't you also say the same thing about certain "irrational whiny" comments leaking outside this thread? Imo there really is no basketball substance of any kind within those posts, yet they're all over the forums without any checks and balances being made. Yet my post placements seem to irk you?

I don’t see your arguing against posts made in here as really in the spirit of the thread, but if you do, then I suppose you’re right, that’s your form of WMC’ing. In that case, you do you. Also I never said anything about arguing against posts you perceive as irrationally whiny in other threads, those are fair game, this is the one safe space. Same as the optimism thread is there as a safe space to for good stuff and fun cheer without question.

    My WMC:

Sit Rondo, Lance, KCP and Javale and just play the young guys BIG minutes to see what they got.

Get bonga in there...play Jones...play Wagner the entire game...get Johnathan Williams (super solid) all the time he needs..

I'm sick of seeing the vets out there playing selfishly...I saw stephenson kcp and rondo take so many bad shots last night it was cringeworthy

Then again....that's helping us lose so I kinda get why Luke is playing them this much...

The spirit of this forum is to support the Lakers, yet the way I see it, quite the opposite is happening. So I guess I should just go tell all those fans to redirect themselves to the WMC thread instead?

A safe space for Laker fans is a Laker forum...not just the optimism thread.

Anyways, I'll take your advice on something. I'll keep doing me.

    My wmc today:
