EDIT: I might've misread your tone.

I said above (maybe two pages back) that if people are sold on him, I'm down. I don't watch much NCAA basketball. That's full disclosure. Now look at what I wrote about him.

Are you going to dispute any of what I wrote? Shot a total of 39 threes, at 20.5%, in his college career.

    1. Shot 69.7% on 356 career FTs. That seems like a pretty good measure of his shooting abilities, but I suppose we'll see when he starts playing.

    2. 114 assists, 103 TOs in his career. 1:1 ast/to ratio as a sophomore. That's worse than four guys who played at least 300 minutes on his team. It's worse than the team ast/to ratio. It's also a very low assist rate. Three players playing at least 300 minutes had better ast rates (2.2 per 40 minutes was his). Only three players on his team with at least 300 minutes had a higher TO rate (2.2 per 40).

    3. His PTS/FGA is quite good, but his eFG% was 9th best on his team. Counting players with at least 300 minutes played, six fared better than he did, while only one was worse (one tied him). In TS%, he was 7th. Counting only those with 300+ minutes, four were better while four were worse. Those numbers are not impressive.

    4. Looking at Blocks + Steals per 40, RHJ totaled 2.8. That was second best on his team (I said it's what he does best). In the grand scheme of things, however, 2.8 per 40 isn't terribly impressive. Neither his steal rate nor block rate was top 10 in his conference. I didn't say that this was any indication of his value. In fact, I specifically said that he had better be an elite defender (which implies that he can be despite these numbers) because I can't see anything that he does well statistically.

Draft Express (via BB Breakdown) lists his strengths as physical tools, defense, and role player potential. *shrug* If I'm missing something, I don't know what it is.

He's mocked late first. Probably won't be.

My post still might sound too sensitive. If I misread your tone, I apologize. I initially read it like you were suggesting that I thought the numbers say more than they do. I think I have a pretty good grasp on what the numbers do and don't do.

He is a rotational player. He's does play some outstanding one on one defense, though. I thought he was a better defender than Stanley Johnson (Johnson's an excellent defender), but RHJ shut down Delon Wright, guarded and did a very good job on D'Angelo Russell individually, and had a great season on the defensive side of the floor. I really didn't see the offense improving all that much, but we've seen guys who have fixed shots like him and be 3 and D players. If he could work on his shot, and develop some of the other parts of his game, I wouldn't mind drafting him.

Good stats breakdown, though, Trodgers. Appreciated.

Let's not get carried away though: "They all three have that hunger Kobe has"

There are only a hand full of players in the last couple of generations that have had the hunger and will that Kobe has.

I had the same exact thought. The draft is gonna be rigged for OKC.

I actually edited mine prior to your response because I realized the first line might prompt such a reaction, which was not my intention.

I'm not sure stats capture what rhj can bring defensively. his length and versatility on that end reminds me a bit of another zona alum, iguodala. he's not as polished offensively as iggy was coming out (and that's saying something, because iggy was unpolished), but that kind combo of size, speed, and body control is uncommon, even at the next level. in a world where everyone was going nuts about kj mcdaniels, I don't see why nobody wants to draft this guy.

2015 NBA Mock Draft 1.0: Battle for No. 1 begins between Towns, Okafor
    http://www.si.com/nba/2015/04/16/20...l-anthony-towns-jahlil-okafor-emmanuel-mudiay

Mannix has us grabbing Winslow which I don't mind in and of itself. But he thinks we will take him over Russell because we are likely to sign Rondo which I think would cause half of this forum to have a stroke. Also has us taking Justin Anderson with the second pick, another guy I like but I can't see us using both of our first round picks on wing players.

It's easy to get upset with the Lakers potentially picking a player/ players in this years draft I'm not high on, but I stepped back, drew a deep breath and came to the realization that just having two 1st round picks is going to be great no matter who the FO decides to go with.....and I also remember how disappointed I was when they chose Magic over Moncrief...

Ugh, May 19th is too far away. Is there a reason they wait that long to do the lottery?

    Super pumped.

Don't blow huge $ on Rondo, Dragic. Sensible signings, draft intelligently, and we're immediately rebuilt.

LAL get the 27th pick in the 2015 Draft thanks to HOU winning a tiebreaker w/LAC (both teams 56-26). LAL have HOU's pick from the Lin trade.

By Houston winning the tiebreaker over the Clippers, the Lakers get the 27th overall pick -- also have 34th

So, during the course of the summer, we'll have 2 picks, Young and Hill that all might be potentially shopped I would hope in some sort of combination. If you're against attaching picks w/player, I understand that, but we may be able to package both picks and move up. Also, looking for teams that may be over the cap that have to make moves (Golden State, Chicago), maybe there is something we could potentially explore there to improve the squad this summer.

    Justin Anderson
    Anderson

    FROSH
    5.0 Scoring
    2.9 Passing
    3.2 Hustle
    58 Positional Efficiency

    SOPH
    5.3 Scoring
    2.4 Passing
    2.6 Hustle
    55 Positional Efficiency

    JUNIOR
    5.8 Scoring
    2.4 Passing
    2.4 Hustle
    61 Positional Efficiency

I'll say one thing about him: His points per possession increased from 1.16 to 1.25 from his Frosh to Junior year despite a 15% increase in USG%. He's an intriguing late first round pick, but it would be awesome if he were available in the second round. Defense is his calling card, so that three-point shooting is gravy.
