Not to mention another piece to put in the AD trade that NO wanted in Randle. That’s a double whammy. The mismanagement of our young assets has been downright awful. They have this summer to make some sound moves or they can go. Bring in someone that can run this franchise, hell we might need a new owner before that happens.
I love Magic, but he was a great player and cheerleader. Hard to take serious as a leader in his current role, but he did sign Lebron. I think he stays, but he needs to give up control to an experienced basketball guy. I trust Rob as a strategist and CBA guy, but is he a great talent evaluator? We already know Magic and Lebron are poor talent evaluators.
I want him to be a man of his word....if he doesn't sign that 2nd max then he needs to resign and the new President better not come with that 1yr signing panning for max star plan BS again.
Ball Ingram Lebron Randle Lopez 6th man: Kuz Easily gets us in the playoffs. Randle gives Lebron another bully and López spaces the floor.
Seriously, not only that it reduces the likelyhood of guys getting hurt. If Randle was around to bully the other team's bigs, Lebron doesn't have to do as much. We'd be much better. Oh well. That horse has beaten to do death, resurrected and beaten to death again.
Magic GM's like a fanboy on NBA 2k, he thinks only stars can win anything not realizing fit issues....I can already imagine if he was playing he tried to field a team of AD, James, Kawahi, Lilliard with cap space turned off lol.....while I really want Leonard here, I can already predict there's going to be a fit issue between James, Ingram and Leonard regardless of coaching, only guy I can see seamlessly dropped into our roster is Klay but I dont see him leaving GSW.
So, the coaching staff begs you to resign Jules and Brolo and you say, "FU. Im bringing McGee, Beasley and Lance". Great partnership...
honestly, cousins drops right in. not that i like it, but he "fits" in that we don't have anyone good at that spot, and his offensive skills are complimentary. it would be like getting lopez back. but with rebounding. and crazy. and for a lot more money.
I really dont want to reward a guy like Cousins...I call BS on his "nobody called me" crap, Pelicans offered him 20 per for 2-3yr deal to prove himself. He took the hit to go to GSW to win a ring cheaply, let them reward him with another 5mill deal. He can go kick rocks
It would be safe to assume if we brought back the exact same roster as last year, we would win more games than we will actually have at the end of the season. He tried to improve the roster and did the opposite.
i think he would have taken 1 year 15 million from us. he just felt insulted by NO and didn't want to be locked in. i get it. i prefer it to taking a long-term deal in a place you don't want to stay, whilst intending to just pout and demand a trade later. but i'm weird. if the league wanted to keep cousins out of gs, they could have, imo. hell, they manage to keep everyone out of la.
luke is still a crap coach but at least even he knew how valuable randle and lopez would have been alongside lebron magic is proving he's as good of a GM as he was a head coach
I’m actually genuinely concerned about Magic being in charge right now. I kind of brushed off the doubters when he was hired because he talked a big game and then when he got LeBron. But every OTHER move, almost all of them have cost us something we maybe shouldn’t have given up or have been iffy, some have been outright bad. Then you start going on twitter and see people posting his commenting history about the Lakers wel before he was hired and you remember the stuff he used to say like that we should have taken Okafor as one example, then he wanted out of Russell as soon as he got here, that he wanted to bring in “his” type of guys, now we hear confirmation of what we already thought with Randle and Lopez, and it’s all adding up to a disturbing pattern. If we don’t land a star this offseason I fear where this team will go, I’m not prepared to land Cousins as a backup plan, or Middleton, these ideas genuinely scare me. The front office has to have a plan, a vision, they have to be together on the same page. I’m seeing confusion, conflicting reports all over, coaches and front office not even close to being on the same page, no real philosophy when it comes to the type of players we want except ones that will take 1 year deals and are supposedly “playmakers”. That needs to end, LFR said we need to start signing guys to like 3 year deals, player option for the 3rd year and start building some actual chemistry and continuity and I don’t see how anyone could disagree. You look over at what the Clippers have done with guys like Lou Williams, who seems to somehow still be getting better this late in his career and it’s crazy. We can’t be getting left behind by the friggin Clippers like this who are supposedly in a rebuild yet still winning, not bringing in Jerry West was clearly a mistake, not a guy you want to go against. Ugh, what a mess, I have so little faith in everyone in the FO right now, from Jeanie on down to the trainers.
if magic/rob can't land at least one of AD, KD, kyrie, kawhi, or klay this offseason then they both need to go as others have mentioned, the only good move they've made is bringing in lebron. everything else has been just flat out bad
If you have a sense of humor about this season at this point, because you’d rather laugh than cry, then the 2nd half of this podcast is comedy gold. They break down clips of Magic and Rob’s first presser after all their free agent signings, and it’s hilarious in hindsight. Starts at about 22:25, this is Anthony F Irwin and Harrison Faigen from Silver Screen & Roll https://player.megaphone.fm/VMP4096438274
I can bet you right now, that if they fail this summer, they will get another year saying, "we'll get AD for free in 2020". Brace yourelves guys...
