So who is hating Magic? I don't hate the guy. Like I said, he's like my all-time favorite player. Most of us hate his roster construction. We hate that he doesn't seem to understand how to build a team. We don't hate him, nor do we look at this team and think that it cancels out all his accomplishments as a Laker. He was part of the reason Lebron came here, but this was a business decision for Lebron. Everyone knows that. Would he have come if Jimmy was still at the top? No. But most people know he was just looking for competence. That's not a conspiracy. This was a business decision. He wanted to be in LA. He chose the Lakers over the Clippers because the Lakers are a global brand with millions of fans. If he were looking for the better basketball move, he would have joined the Clippers as they had more solid veteran pieces and a guy helping with decisions (Jerry West) who has a proven track record; an unparalleled track record to be honest. We like to beat up on the Clippers, but they aren't Donald Sterling's group anymore. Jerry West has swept out the floppers and cry babies. The Clippers are a well run franchise with some momentum. And no. I don't like the Clippers, nor am I a clipper fan (because I know that jab is coming from you). I can just see what most others can that aren't wearing purple colored glasses.
Your main criticism was that we had a flip flopping FO... and I pointed out how that wasnt the case. But if your main criticism is this season alone as a failure...Then you're right. No Bron-led team should miss the playoffs. But let's not ignore the coaching (ie losing multiple games to tanking teams), the injuries (the healthiest team has played nearly 4times the amount together than our healthiest roster has this year) and the intangibles (ie trade spite). What most of y'all are doing is putting it directly on the FO...and that's ridiculous. Did the FO break up a championship team? Did the FO deal in good faith with Mintz to the Pels? Did the FO construct a team that, if healthy, was a basement dweller from the jump? You want to criticize the way we play games and losing winnable games...that's one thing. But acting like Magic/Rob failed in cleaning shop, locking up Bron and creating the realistic option of hope for a 2nd max guy and/or AD is laughabawl. I'm sorry it really is! Our only hope before was that our kiddies would hit. DLo is balling...you can't deny him that and I'm not hating on that...but had he stayed in the West, it's more than likely he's sitting at home with Spida Mitchell watching the Allstar game. We coulda held Jules hostage, but maybe we don't want that type of light being Rob was a player agent and can sympathize with the player. We may bawl about it, but that takes balls. Ainge has had free reign on not being loyal to players and fleecing other organizations... maybe that starts to bite him in the a**. Either way, you can disagree with it, but I applaud our FO for having a direction and demonstrating some principles in the matter (ie Deng has by far given us the most back in a buyout compared to all other buyout candidates). And the ultimate irony in this is, other than a small contingent of Zu diehards, most of you clowned Zu as a prospect. Dude was getting not even 16mins per here. He could have helped, but he's far from a needle-pusher this year (5pts, 6rbs vs Sac in a loss and 7pts, 2rbs vs the cLips in a loss...just to name a couple) and you guys want to make the biggest stink of it. I do love me some 5x Laker title winner & LakerLifer Magic...the same way you might love Kobe, who's done the same. So of course my patience and theshold will be far more for him than just 18 months. Y'all wild... Btw Savs...don't be naive...you know exactly who I'm addressing with the "weird veiled" comments. Also Blake doesn't like the cLippers...and neither does Bowen. I'm pretty sure Kawhi doesnt really even like the stalker s*** either. And excuse me while I put my tin cap on, but I'm certain AD Sr doesn't want his boy playing for Ballmer either if it's about loyalty...dude just put em on the list to avoid catching a tamper case. Btw I love me some Jerry West...but enough to respect what the cLips have done while undermine our approach...f*** no! That would make me a hypocrite.
Zu wasnt anything special but the reasoning for the trade sucks balls n the fact that they're looking for another C post trade is what makes it even more laughable....its not as if theyre gona resign moose caca either
almost never, but we're kind of backed into a corner. this is why i was mad last summer after the lebron signing. i knew there was a chance we'd be back in the cap space rollover plan that ended in mozdeng the first time. that said, the FA pickings are pretty slim after the big names this year. last year, there were guys that could have been had if we were willing to forego FA this year. this year...less appealing crop. so we'll swing big and cross fingers. the real problem is that if anthony davis is the plan (and if he truly wants to be here, he needs to be plans A, B, and C), then we must maintain flexibility to sign him next summer. it's our leverage in trade talks. it's what will keep the other offers down. by my rough calculations, you've got: lebron 39 lonzo 11 BI 17.5 (but it's a cap hold) mo 4 kuz 3.5 hart 3.5 bonga 1.5 5 min cap holds at 600k each = 3 deng's corpse: 5 that's about 88 commited, but it could go as low as 71 if you don't have ingram's hold. some projections have the cap going as high as 118 in 2020. my point is that, if the lakers want to, they can take on salary. the only real restriction is that they need to be able to afford davis's max if only lebron + player or players X + incomplete roster charges + deng's corpse are on the books. make sense? so, basically: 39 + X+ 5(ish) + 5 + 36 (davis max) = 118 118-85 = 33 million am i doing this wrong, vash? point is, we could sign a max and--if (not sure about the size of the if) we're willing to sell off all youth for no salary in return (totally doable and may even return several picks in the process)--retain the threat of signing davis outright next season. conversely, we could sign two players or take on the salaries of multiple (useful) players so long as they don't top 33 million in 2021 salary.
Abeer: your math and approach is right, but allow me to make some amends with your thought process. What we saw in Noel and Hood is that RFAs will roll the dice on themselves by signing QOs to become unrestricted far sooner than their rookie counterparts. It's a risk, but it seems like player power is the trend...from pre-agency in Paula, Kawhi and AD to even Klutch's approach to KCP's restricted free agency in asking for an out no different than Jules who got an out of his rookie contract shackles and became unrestricted last summer...players are going to exploit the current CBA before it is due for renegotiations in 2022. Since there's precedent in Klutch's handling of Noel, there's been waves that Simmons will also go the qualifying offer route to become unrestricted in the summer of 2021 (I know I know....now it's the #2021Plan... when's it gonna stop? Haha) But let's say AD walks into space in 2020...he would do so as a player heading into his 9th season. As a guy about to become a 10 year vet, he could look at a 1+1 deal in 2020 as a 30%max player and then opt out in the summer of 2021 to have an opportunity at a 35% max deal. Another interesting thing is that Bron has a player option that same summer. Would he opt out and take less in an attempt to pay AD and have enough room to still bring in Simmons as an UFA? Now how does this affect BI? I really think he will bypass his RFA and sign the 9.5m qualifying offer during the summer of 2020. That would make room for AD to walk in and still allow us to keep all our kids. The extra benefit for BI (other than becoming an UFA sooner) is to have a de-facto no trade clause that year. So we can't trade BI unless he consents. Then the 2021 summer hits and if Simmons isn't an option, we got BI's bird rights and can offer him a designated player contract at 30%max if he makes an All-Nba team the season prior. Add to that: Kawhi Ky, Klay, Kemba and Butler are all 9th year vets next year... meaning they are likely to sign 1+1 deals (if they believe in themselves and their health)...and if they do that, then whichever one comes to partner with Bron will be able assess that pairing (as will the FO and fanbase) and if it doesn't work out, they opt out the summer of 2020 and AD walks in (if he hadn't already beent traded for). I know most are upset about this season, but the long game is fascinating s*** and none of it is possible without getting to Klutch via Kcp.
So you're saying Schwartz/Excel Sports Management agency are the same as Mintz/Imbecile Sports Management agency....cool story Try adding some depth to the conversation for a change.
whether they are or not its debatable I guess but thinking BI is gona play that QO gm with Magic is laughable. Magic just tried to trade him, you think BI owes magic anything? n on top of that your suggested plan is BI is plan B, what player wants to do FO a favor when they're plan B? LMAO
BI would be doing it for him. He stands to make more as an UFA...just cause Mintz failed Jules...doesn't mean Schwartz fails BI. Also BI could bounce the following summer if he doesn't want to stay here. For BI, it's his plan A, cause restricted free agency is a construct to help organizations, not players. Your arguments and cLip-style stalking of my posts are.... But of course...I'm not surprised...cause cLipfans gonna cLip.
yea I can see why you Love magic the exec so much....you already have same mindset of washing a season over and over again till these FA actually sign one day lol...as for BI, after next off season if I was him and got anything close to max offer I'm tell my agent to tell magic to F off with his bozo QO plan and I'm signing 1st thing its available, if Magic wanna match so be it.
And I can see why you love the cLips so much...#StalkMuch? Kawhi, I feel for you...they reLentLess. Seek therapy bruh. I know following the cLips over the years has taken its toll...but now following me around ain't gonna help ya. This summer, when we're back back...I expect you to be gawn gone. Only thing keeping you here are the Ls. Till the Ws come, bawl out, troLL. WWW.PestControll.com The only way to get rid of these troll bawlers. Now get your last word in, cLippy da cLown. I'm donzo with your bozo a**. Stop stalkn, #creep(weep)show
I have seen several people suggest now that LeBron has an option on his contract, but I do not believe that to be true. Can you provide a link? Everything I find shows no options. And no no trade clause
Hey #Trolltron, yall really want to go there? Each one of you has something in the closet (I guess I do too with my Magic shrine)... Y'all put your energy into this s*** and see where it gets you. If you want to discuss the Lakers without the same ol tired retread, I'll happily oblige. You wanna keep trolln tho...let's see where it'll eventually get you.
