I agree with you and Dr. Buss in principal. My issue is replacements for gutting the core. My future-value of the core greatly exceeds what we'd get in replacements. This reverts back to Magic and Rob's time table for their development. Also, LeBron has to be a part of their development for this to succeed. If he wants not part of this, go ahead and gut the roster, but I don't think this will add up to a ring.

Honestly, I believe it won't cost us everyone just because the Pelicans won't want that many bodies. I bet we get to keep Hart, or if we're lucky, Ingram. Having Hart and Wagner on low cost deals should be good enough. Even though this trade could give us a punchers chance this season, it's really being done so this offseason we can build around them with a clear picture.

If we send everyone out except Hart, Wagner, Svi and Bonga (somewhat likely scenario), our roster will look like this:

    ?/Wagner
    AD/Wagner
    Lebron/Svi
    Hart/
    ?/Bonga

Our cap number will be at 76.6 million, and cap holds would run that number up to around 82 million. That still leaves us with 27 million before the projected cap. Now we can sign a player like Middleton and maybe even a resigned Rondo using that space, and we'd still have the room exception. I bet Boogie Cousins isn't going to get 27 million, so he'd still be an option. Or we could get a big time free agent to threaten to walk into that space to where we maybe get a sign and trade and get a third player their max. We send them Wagner, Hart, Svi and Bonga with 3 million cash to buyout Svi and Bonga so they don't lose (insert free agent) for nothing. this is what the Rockets and Clippers did with CP3.

We can still build a formidable team around AD and Lebron. Obviously we'd like to keep our core, but it's not like we'd have no room to improve.

The problem with waiting for the kids to develop is that Lebron is on the wrong side of 30. We were all hoping for a jump in progress from Ball and Ingram, less so from Kuzma and Hart but still they have all disappointed. If you can trade those kids for a top 3 player in the NBA right now that isn't even entering his prime yet, you do it in a heartbeat. You worry about filling out the roster later, players will come. And honestly, we will still have some young guys left. I think Hart and the 3 rookies we drafted this season will still be around.

Hard to compete with the Warriors this year regardless of trades or not. I would Roll with our current roster against the rebuilt with a prime free agent, mid level and some roster adjustments.

    -Target Kyrie or Klay (prime)
-Target Middleton, Willie Caully-Stein or Trey Lyles (mid level)
-Trade one of Bi or Kuz (like them both but they’re redundant) for additionalrebounding or shooting
-Keep and develop the remainder Lonzo, BI/Kuz, Zubac, Hart, Svi

Formidable and built for the future....

Much needed win tonight. I thought we blew it after being outscored by 12 in the fourth, but I'm glad we pulled it out in OT!

    A win is a win.

But at this point, I dunno if we're gonna make it out of the 1st round tbh unless we land a healthy AD. But even that won't be nearly enough to challenge most of the top 5 teams in the West.

We got a win against a team I hate with some real annoying punks on it, and after the game I went to the store and found some Lakers merch in the clearance section. Got a keychain and a fridge magnet (both are Laker jerseys, the keychain is gold on one side, white on the other) for about %75 off each. They had a LeBron #23 can caddie cooler thing and a LeBron keychain lanyard, but come on, I don’t like the guy that much.

Lol, no, but I probably would have if I didn’t already have a Lakers keychain lanyard. It was $2 after all. Probably would have bought the can caddie thing too but I don’t really drink anything out of cans anymore.

Yeah. It's actually a better beer transportation mechanism due to the inability of light to penetrate and it's easier to store in a fridge.

I’m not a big beer drinker, and when I do it’s usually from bottles. I also stopped drinking soda, so yeah, no real use for me.

I drink beer, enhanced waters...and lots of milk. I'll be 40 this month and I still drink obscene amounts of milk. :D
