I want to blame Luke for this mess because it'd be nice if the coach was the problem. Unfortunately, I think it has very little to do with Luke. Luke's system (which is really just the modern day NBA system) requires good shooters. Maginka gave him dog s*** in that department. So we can ask, "Why doesn't Luke adjust? That's what a great coach would do!" What can he adjust to? We can't adjust to a post offense because we have zero dominant (or even mediocre) post players. How do you create an offense where most of your players can't shoot past 15 feet; an offense that has to be careful not to go to the rim too much because no one can make free throws?

We all knew when the season started how bad the roster construction was. Lebron was able to hide some of that along with McGee having a career year. Now Lebron is gone and McGee has come back down to Earth a bit. This team is exactly what everyone was saying it was: A Group of Mismatched Misfits.

yeah, show me the good team that has shooters like ours.

hell, the game broke open a bit last night because for about a 5-minute stretch we hit half of our wide open threes. the first half was criminal in that regard.

when all of your young talent struggles with the 3, the solution isn't to go sign a bunch of vets that are even worse at this particular skill.

Yes. But we can't keep KCP on the floor for more than 10 minutes a game because of how bad he is at everything else.

Yeah. Our roster reminds me of the Knicks when Isaiah Thomas was the GM and he brought in Steve Francis to play next to Marbury. Isaiah said, 'It's crazy enough it just might work." It didn't work.

I just don't get why we just don't run a simple pick and roll instead of these brush screens, weaves, and horns which moves the ball nowhere?

Something good happens every time we run it simply, Lebron and Lonzo are capable around the screen, and it causes defenses to rotate. All we really need are some actual floor spacers then we'd have something.

RIght now, the offense just looks like, weave the ball for 5 seconds, use an off ball screen, hey you're open, clank. Or BI forcing the issue down the paint. Or Kuz trying to get something going. For a team trying to play an unselfish brand of basketball, it looks more selfish to me.

KCP is good at free throws and that’s about it. He is shooting 42% from 2 and a NBA average 35% from 3. Not overly impressive for a guy who’s supposed to be a shooter. His defense is definitely overrated.

I'm just pointing out that teams dont need a roster full of shooters to be semi good...ala OKC. We have NO half court O, everything looks painful. Granted a 3pt shooter could open up the O a little better but a good coach can still design a solid offense w/o having 3pt shooters all over the floor.

I only checked in on the score last night, but didn’t watch anything. I think it was a good call, but I’m also happy we got a win, and that the box score showed several good all-around efforts from several players.

It still sounded like it was basically unwatchable basketball, but that at least the defense of effort was there
