It just shows how important superstars are. One transcendent superstar transforms a bunch of scrubs into a playoff team. But you really need two superstars and a borderline all star, a couple of good, mentally strong veterans, and then some young scrubs for depth to really compete. Basically, what Kobe had in Pau/Odom/Artest or Ariza & Fish, with people like Farmar, Sasha etc. Basically what we have right now is a variation on Farmar/Sasha, hurt "Kobe" but no Odom and Pau at all... and our Fisher is constantly injured. It's hard to win with this group or young role players/bench players/scrubs... that much is pretty obvious, no matter how much we want Lonzo to be Kidd, BI to be Odom and Artest rolled into one, Hart to be Ariza and Kuzma to be Gasol. It's not really happening because they are either not that good, or we are not developing talent the way we should.

So...this is why I am on the "trade for Beal/Kemba/whoever" NOW bandwagon. Every game that goes by showcases the Pelicans their future team if they get all our youth. Our youth is becoming a depreciating asset. We need to trade Ingram NOW for a proven star (if we even can which I highly doubt at this point). How many of you would go back and give in to Pop's godfather offer for Kawhi right now? I don't think anyone would even blink at Ingram and picks for PG13 that Indy wanted.

This team is in big trouble right now because our young "talent" is becoming more and more worthless by the minute.

Unfortunately, I think the window has passed to trade our talent. I can't see the Pelicans trading Davis for anything on the roster.

I don't even feel good about getting a Beal/Kemba anymore.

There will be pressure by the other owners not to a) give in to Davis' wishes and b) not make the Lakers stronger. I think those factors get lost when guys discuss past potential trades like Leonard and George. No way on earth was Pop going to make a deal with us and I don't believe we had a serious shot at George either.

Honestly, I just don't think other teams are that high on our players outside of Kuz and Hart and even their stock has sunk. The Pacers felt like they had a better offer that also kept them from having to cater to George's wishes. Looking at where that team is now, I think its been more than shown that they bet on the right young guys and made the right deal.

Same with the Spurs. No way I'd take Ball, Ingram, Kuz and Hart over Derozan. Demar has flaws in his game for sure, but I'd rather have him than the kids if I'm the Spurs.

I just don't see the deal we could've made with either team. Ultimately, I think the same will happen with Davis if a deal is even made. We have a much higher value on our guys than other teams do.

Bottom line to me is that the team's just going to have to deal with what they have. We went all in on Ingram and Ball. We have to really develop them. That's why I've been harping so much on training, development, staff, etc.

Kuz and Hart can be both be very good pros for years to come. Again, we gotta put in the work and develop them.

It’s not fair to ask LeBron to suffer through having such a poor team around him. We should go ahead and trade him and blow this thing up. Stock pile a tremendous amount of assets and go for the full line tank.

    :Noddingyes:

Oh wait, we need to sell tickets. I guess nothing is going to happen until the off-season.

We suck and I'm running out of reasons on why and who should get the blame...

    I think it's everyone:

Luke for not having any real offensive system
Magic and Rob for their off-season signings right after we got LeBron (no shooters)
the PLAYERS for not hitting their effing free throws!!!

every aspect of the game right now looks hella difficult for this team, it shouldn't be this poor this far into the season with or w/o James

I don't think the Spurs would have made the deal with us; but Indiana would have, IMO. We should have traded everything and the kitchen cupboard for George then because none of these kids will ever reach what George has or is doing in this league, period.

From what I remember (have to look back), I have always wanted a star in place; I'm not much on developing youth especially when we don't have the staff that knows how to develop players the right way.

I'm optimistic we get another star this summer; however, we're wasting a year of LBJ's prime to sit back and wait.

This loss really stinks and there is tons of blame to go around. Luke doesn’t seem to have an offensive system but we are a terrible shooting team on WIDE open shots. So if we had an good system, you still need guys who can make shots. The players are also the ones taking and missing the free throws. There should definitely been a shooting coach hired and if Luke didn’t think we needed one, he needs his head examined but he can’t actually go out there and make the free throw for them. Players should be held accountable for practicing their free throws and if they don’t, they don’t play.

I think Luke is responsible for making players play out of position. Maybe it’s the front office that is forcing this, I don’t know but it’s not working out.

Who’s to blame for the lack of energy at the start of games? I think that mostly falls on the players. If you don’t want to put in the effort, then find another job. We aren’t a good enough team to come back from these large deficits.

Overall I’m just pissed at the whole thing. I think I had more fun watching our crappy teams from a few years ago. No they didn’t win but I thought I saw more effort. Losing to an 8 win team was a new low and its disgusting.

totally could have had george. i think it only would have taken one of ingram or the #2 + the rest of our offer. indy would have saved face, and at the time, that looked like a superior package to sabonis/oladipo. it's only in hindsight that those guys look way better.

anyway, that's probably going to be my complaint until the FO gets another player of george's caliber (which is doubtful).

if george is here, we might be in first place. seriously.

I'm not willing to pay for tickets to the game to watch this crap
I'm not willing to pay for cheaper tickets at an opposing team arena to watch this crap
I'm not willing to pay for Cable or NBA League Pass in it's various forms to watch this crap
I'm not willing to alter my schedule around games being on.
I'm not willing to even put the games on my calendar because there is no point.
I'm not willing to buy overpriced merchandise of players that may not be here next year.
I'm barely willing to even watch games on a free delayed stream.

Son, I am disappoint. The basketball product is soooo bad right now that even for a lifelong fan, I refuse to reward this crappy behavior/product with dollars in any conceivable format. Give me a reason to look forward to a game please. Any game.

I also wanted to trade in George and never liked the untouchable stance we took with certain players.

I also think George told us he was coming and there was a lot more behind the scenes stuff going on and that’s why we got that tampering charge.

Either way. I’m still good with a trade if we can swing one.

Other teams aren’t interested in Hart.

Even a pro Kuzma thread gets him dumped on, but he has some fans there. Btw, I just did most recent reddit threads with those player names. Wasn’t cherry picking.
