Man, that was quite a game; we have witnessed (pun intended!) a historic game by our Zo/Bron duo. They make history and join Magic/Kareem as the two Lakers to have a triple-double in the same game. Extremely impressive!

How blessed are we as Laker fans. Seriously. We've had the best players in history in multiple generations don the purple and gold.

One thing I noticed about LeBron: he ALWAYS knows where KCP is. Hits him in the corner every single time.

I don't agree anymore that Kobe is a better player than LeBron.

Kobe is the smoother and more "skilled" player. He has the innate ability to produce magical moments. His movements, footwork etc are pure artistry. He is also more fun to watch when he is "on. He was just incredible, stunning. In that regard Kobe also easily owns MJ. In the zone, Kobe is the most unstoppable force of nature the game has ever seen, second bar none.

LeBron is simply the more efficient, more intelligent player with a physical ability that is unmatched in NBA history. He plays an extremely physical and athletic style, is always stronger and either bigger or faster than his defenders and never gets hurt. He is a much better passer and rebounder than Kobe, he also is way more consistent because he doesn't produce those 8-25 shooting night. He also can be your defacto playmaker which Kobe cannot. Kobe always struggled to balance out shooting and passing. He was too aggressive in some games and took awful shots, and he was a great playmaker in other games but then struggled to be efficient and productive offensively.

Kobe is the greater Laker by far. LeBron is the better overall player and pretty much every stat underlines this.

Kobe and Durant are 2 of the best scorers in history, both are top 5 scorers in my book. Guess who has a higher scoring average than both while also being more efficient at it. LeBron frigging James. He isn't even a shoot first type of player and doesn't care how many points he scores. Kobe absolutely cared how much he scored. That's how amazing LeBron is.

I think I'll need to wait until LBJ's career is over to assess him fully. But I'll say this, if Lebron gets our team to a championship THIS year without any further help, I'll put him at number 2 all time behind only Kareem. Yeah, I said it. At the end of his career he might be there anyway. As ever we shall see. He's a force for sure.

Generally though I'm thinking that KB24 is pretty right on. Kobe is the most complete offensive player I've ever seen without any doubt in my mind. He is the greatest example of basketball skill. I think that's one of the reasons he is so beloved in China along with his mindset and his indomitable heart. He is the ultimate warrior who will go until he has nothing left. We were blessed to see him in action for 20 years so there's a great reason so most of us will always hold him in the very highest regard and consider him in the very top handful of b-ball players of all time.

I don't think Lebron is made of that same stuff, but he's a monstrous athlete, the likes of which hasn't really been seen in basketball in terms of size, quickness and skill. Lebron is also very smart and has taken incredible care of himself. He's such a savvy player and elite athlete who has excelled in the spotlight his whole career. 8 straight trips to the Finals in the modern era is ridiculous even considering the lack of parity between East and Western conferences. Personally I greatly prefer him over Jordan and I do think if he keeps going as he has been he will overtake him as general consensus number 2 of all time.

I'm not really disputing your opinion, but I just want to point out that imho the scoring and the efficiency of Bron's scoring had to do with many factors:

League has effectively nutured defense and highlighted and valued offense, which is why pace and overall scoring has increased from Kob's era to now...today's offensive player is more looked after compared to Kobe and players from their generation.

A pre- transitioning into present- prime Kobe had to play with an alpha1 scorer like Shaq. You can argue that Shaq made Kobe's scoring and efficiency easier, but the fact still remains that Kobe had to defer much of his scoring potential to Shaq. Bron played with scorers like Wade and Ky, but they weren't offensive black holes like Shaq was.

Then there's Phil...Kob played under him for nearly his entire career. Phil had no problem calling out Kob and making him play more team oriented when the offense stagnated and became more Kobe-centric. Meanwhile, Bron had no one to really rein him in. He pretty much went unleashed and unchecked with rookie coaches like Brown, Spoels, Blatt, Lue, etc.

Which brings us to Del Harris...Kob came up the proper way with earning his PT and proving he was a starter. LeBron meanwhile was a #1 overall pick and given the privilege of running the team offense and being the go-to player from the jump. I'm not saying Bron didn't deserve that type of responsibility early on...but instead of truly earning it like Kob, he was given it.

    Anyways, that's my $0.08...

watching the replay now from the last game, and literally anytime lebron misses a shot at the basket, it's someone else's fault. He had to have been fouled, and blames the ref for not calling it even when there was no contact.

    it's embarrassing

    it's shameful

OK Sirron, you are overreacting here. Kobe: "HEEEEY!" Pau: "HUAAAARGHHHH *then looks at the ref*". One of the greatest players ever, Tim Duncan: "I have never committed a foul in my life!"

Very good points. I didn't really take these into consideration.

I firmly believe that Kobe is a better scorer, I think we don't disagree there.

Ya certainly the new Era, faster pace and the devaluation of defense has contributed to LeBrons favor.

My main point was that Kobe is an artist who has gotten there through work on his craft while LeBron is the bigger freak of nature who just has unfair advantages. Obviously taste is also involved in this but universally I'd like to believe that LeBron is ahead of Kobe. 8 straight finals is amazing and he is less injury prone, more consistent and has better stats.

Also needs to be said that the media hated Kobe and loves LeBron, so they highlighted Kobes selfishness and LeBrons unselfishness. Back then they said nobody wants to play with Kobe and everyone loves to play with LeBron. Now they are saying nobody wants to play with LeBron but only because they would disappear under his greatness. Lol

Kobe and Pau whining doesn’t make it right. I complained about that too, except Kobe had MANY Legitimate complaints on no calls where the officials swallowed their whistle when he played.

Lebron is just incredulous he missed and needs someone to blame. We all wish Kobe got special ref treatment.

I don’t care about other teams or players, just ours.

But yes, my b****ing and complaining is a form of mourning. Let me have it k
