It's pretty funny - it seems like every time LeBron has a great game, folks need to come out and remind everyone how awesome Kobe was.

Bottom line is they're both all time great players in their own ways. An argument can be made for either one being higher up on this fictional all time list.

We already enjoyed 20 great seasons of Kobe (well more like 15)....lets just sit back and enjoy watching _ great seasons of LeBron (hoping at least 4)

    Limitations in physical traits...yes.
    But in genetic traits...no.

Bean's pops was a ball player and on his mom's side, his unck was a ball player too.

I'm not foolish enough to question Kob's work ethic...it's 2nd to none. But genetically dude had the gifts.

So those that focus on his hands, I always remind them to look further south (pause) to his jenes.

I agree but think Kareem is above Kobe too.

hand check wouldn't affect lebron. in fact, he would have been impossible to score on if he could derek harper your a**.

i DO think that the legalization of the zone really worked against kobe, though. i feel that particular rule change was made to prevent the lakers from reeling off, like, a thousand titles. during the height of his abilities, kobe never got to just iso up like mj did.

but that also applies to lebron, too.

the recent freedom of motion emphasis would have helped kobe a ton, too.

finally, had kobe been officiated like harden, he'd have averaged 50ppg on 65% from the floor. fer reelz.

I think most are trying to do this, but then we have LeBron bandwagon fans that have joined up that feel the need to knock Kobe or are the ones bringing him up whenever LeBron has a great game, and this is what you get. Lifelong Lakers fans aren’t going to sit back and not defend Kobe. I’m perfectly happy to just enjoy LeBron and move on from talking about the past, but these other people keep bringing up Kobe for some reason.

    This guy is a MACHINE.

All I can say is...Thank the LORD we have LeBron because the young core is looking shaky af and we're finding ways to win games with them not playing well...

I don't know if I should be concerned or encouraged...what happens when young core actually starts playing well and LeBron is still LeBron? Are we the 2nd best team in the west if that happens? Or am I being optimistic that the young core will eventually start playing well?

LeBron man..just a few beast games here and there at age 34...no big deal...averaging 29-8-7-1-1 on 52% fg, 75% ft and 40% from 3 while averaging his lowest MPG at 34.7...

His usage has gone up though to about what his average has been over his career...but if it's winning us games and he's still under 35mpg...that's excellent minutes management from coaching staff and LeBron

Leads the league in scoring while playing at a career low in minutes per...in other news, KAJ and Luke are BFF on the DL....but it won't matter if Bron keeps scoring efficiently like this. Must be that Miayummi hot sauce...good look on the re-up!

Btw, I read Kerr say that the dubs are currently going through what the rest of the NBA goes through...

    ...ya think, Steve?

And this is just the regular season. Think if you had key loses like a Dray or Klay in the playoffs like Bron had to with Bosh, Love and Ky...yet he's widely known as a lllllloser in spite of 8 straight. I would like to see how the temperamental dubs do in the postseason if any of their key allstars goes missing for a lengthy portion of the playoffs (being injury, suspensions or otherwise).

That’s why I qualified what I said in comparison to other “good” players what set Kobe apart was the work ethic and mental fortitude.

My point is he had no freakish qualities other than mental.

Where do you guys think LeBron stacks up for MVP so far this season?

I think if LeBron continues to play like this and the team gets 4th or better in the WC, then he will win the MVP.

LeBron would be the overwhelming favorite if the Lakers are anything north of the 5th seed in the West...

Everyone expecting us to be 6-8 seed or MISS the playoffs which is insane but hey, it's what the media does

Not sure what your saying about Miami because they weren't on a 7 game home winning streak and the Lakers kicked their but in MIA last year

I am still going with all around Mastered Skills of the game of Basketball. Kareem had many, he had the players voted MVPs, he had the dominance and of course the majestic and unstoppable Sky Hook. He did not have the all around footwork and back to the basket game of Hakeem, Kobe and Jordan nor the handles and the deep threat games of MJ and Kobe.

I think Lebron had a 7 game losing streak playing in Miami since he left. Lost 7 games with the Cavs and missed 1 other. That streak comment confused me during the broadcast too at first.

He did not have the all around footwork and back to basket game....Back To Basket Game...BACK.TO.BASKET.GAME!!!!

True he wasn't a deep ball threat (1/18 in a 20 year career, but only 10 years of his career involved 3balls being introduced into the NBA game)...yet with no 3ball, he still is the all time leader in points. How do you think he did that?

The man never avg double digits FTAs per game during any part of his 20 year career. And his 225lb frame didn't just bully his way to the cup. So how did he accumulate all them points?

Stop discrediting the man to make a flawed point my dude.

You pick and choose. Of course back to basket and the hook and dominance. I'm talking about Hakeem and Kobe and Jordan level of the footwork and moves and counter move derivatives that only those 3 players ever had back to the basket. Handles. Deep ball. Not that he needed them. Just saying he did not have as complete basketball skills to go with the dominance as MJ and Kobe. He gets them on longevity for certain. No one is dissing the greatness of Kareem here. He's right there. Chill out.

Yeah gonna have to say that Cap had the best post footwork of all time bar none.

Hakeem did have better feet when he did the fancy stuff / dream shake, but Kareem always always moves right to put himself in the best position to score in the post.

Also would include McHale’s feet in that discussion.

So doing a little quick math and also factoring in a slight level of pettiness, I think I know the date LeBron passes Jordan.

January 13, 2019. Cavs at Lakers.
