I understand the importance just providing context. It's not world shattering If we lose the pick. It's a step back that we can recover from.

We're all spoiled Lakers fans here, real. Every millisecond extra that we have to endure this down period is maddening! We'll bounce back if we lose the pick. It's just more milliseconds... much more, imo.

Yes, you're correct. If I told you or anybody else that we'd have 82.8% chance at keeping our pick, most if not all of us would be happy. If we get the pick, great. If we don't, then we'll have our 2016 pick with no protections next year that we could add to our existing core of young players on what will be I believe an improved squad that will contend if not make the PO's...

I just wanted you guys to understand that I KNOW the pick is important... I just don't think we'd collapse if we didn't get it. That's all. :)

This. We can still rebuild, it will just take longer. Keep in mind, for most of the last 30 years, we have had one of the top 3 players in the game. Magic, Shaq, and Kobe. I hope people realize that it is entirely possible we will not win another title for a long time. We could get really, really good and still not win a title. There have been only 9 teams that have won a title since 1980. That means 21 freaking teams have not sniffed the promised land. It's really hard to win. Of those 35 title teams, only 5 teams did not have a player who was in the argument as a top 3 player in the league. Dirk, Young Wade, The C Bags Big 3, that weird Billups Pistons team and last years Spurs are really the only teams that you could make a solid argument did not have a top 3 player.

With a top 5 pick now nearly money, this tournament today and Monday will be great for us Laker fans to watch. I'm particularly interested in watching all the bigs go at it. Now if Kaminsky leads the Badgers to a win with a terrific game today against WCS/ Towns/ Johnson, and then matches up against Okafur and does the same will that change his draft status as the 1st big taken? Will just being a winner and talented player with limited athleticism be good enough in the NBA? Or, will GMs still go for what they perceive as big upsides on Okafur, Towns and WCS. I'd love to be a fly on the wall listening to Kupcheck and J Buss as they watch this unfold. I don't believe Kaminsky has hit his ceiling as a player, he's improved considerably from last year, and was a non factor in his freshman/ sophomore seasons. He's only 21 with plenty of time to bulk up and improve.

Even if the badgers win it all, a few games don't erase a season's worth. Okafor and Towns are the two best bigs even if they were to get each get 3 points and 3 boards in the remaining games and Frank put up 20/20. It's not even close.

and that's why I'd like to be a fly on the wall to hear what experts in talent evaluation would say after they saw such a scene play out. It's all hypothetical however and is a far fetched scenario, but for discussions sake I brought it up.

If Kaminsky wins, he moves up the draft board but doesn't move over Towns, Okafor, or Cauley-Stein. Frank is just unlikely to be a viable defender at the next level and that's pretty clear at this point. Okafor's stock is dropping for the same reason and he's a much better offensive prospect than Frank.

With that Rondo report from Max Kellerman, I almost hope we land Mudiay or Russell now to make signing Rondo almost impossible. If we sign Rondo, you guys will either not see me around here for quite a while while I cool off, or I will post every few minutes, languishing in my own self misery knowing that my Lakers are dead.

Are you completely positive you do not want to see Rondo shooting 30% from the FT line?

We could have used his services this year for the tank, but not next year.

^ Sorry but I stopped reading when he had Winslow #2 on his big board. That shows me you're going for website traffic by being different and know nothing about basketball.

Why Emmanuel Mudiay Is a Legitimate Threat for No. 1 Pick in the 2015 NBA Draft

    http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...te-threat-for-no-1-pick-in-the-2015-nba-draft

God forbid Philly gets rewarded for this tank-a-thon, but if they land #1 and they don't trade out of it, I could see them taking Mudiay. And then you've got Phil who is a wildcard. I've seen reported of sourced reports all claiming something different, he's been tying to each of the top 4 guys. So either he has no idea yet or is leaking bad info out there. Right now how things are going in NY, neither would surprise me nor would seeing him take any of the top 4 guys. Okafor seems like such a slam dunk there, but that's just me.

Watching the first 14 minutes of this 1st half between Michigan State and Duke Winslow really reminds me of how Harden attacks the basket looking for contact. He sticks the ball out on drives into the defender to draw the contract. Its happened a couple of times this first half.
