Ingram will potentially be the best player behind lebron in the near future. Trade KCP for Kyle o'quin or dwayne deadmon and call it a day. Rebounding and rim protection

We have played essentially 5 teams who made the playoffs last year and the Suns these opening 7 games, haven't been blown out whilst being screwed from the charity stripe.

    Not a good excuse.

If we expect to be a playoff team...then we must win games against playoff teams.

Yes, not being blown out is a positive. Chocking down the line every game is a negative.

At the end of the day the thinking isn't anymore...oh we lost a close game to a playoff team, we are good. We must win games against any team on our home floor and some on the road. Playoff teams or not. With the current pace, we will not even win 40 games. We need closer to 50 which already is looking like a pipe dream.

All we needed was an all Star to close games they said.

    Hello LeBron James.

    Our King. Our closer.

Great optimism, my point is I'd be far more worried if we were being blown out, we aren't even 10 games in with a new team, we are getting screwed at the line and we should of beaten the spurs and the timberwolves at least making us +.500

I also don't think it's impossible to finish 48-27 the rest of the way either, look what Miami did last year etc.

    1) This is the Optimism Thread.

    2) These posts will be funny in a couple months.

    3) Houston and Oklahoma actually have worse records than we do. Should they also be panicking?

houston is. they discussed scrapping their entire defensive "philosophy" 6 games in.

looking at the next five games, one would have penciled in wins for maybe three of them ahead of time. it's a chance to start turning some of the close losses into wins. pending those results, it might be panic time.

optimism: ingram hit a couple threes, which is going to be very important going forward.

I loved the starting five last night. If that group gels, watch out. Refs sent a clear message to Brandon Ingram that there are consequences for getting in a fellow referee’s grill, hence the phantom fouls.

    Nr. 1...you are right. I didn't even notice :(

    Nr. 2...hopefully.

Nr. 3 I think Thunder should definitely be panicking, they have been hot garbage on offense and pretty much on defense too. As for Houston, at least they can say "been there, done that". I don't buy the Trevor Ariza was their secret MVP idea. I do think they played above their head last year and will come down to earth but their floor is still at least playoffs without question IMO. The Lakers and Thunder are completely unproven and they should be panicking.

Optimism, we are tantalizingly close to winning in most of these losses. So that part is great - we are back, we are competitive and we could win. But the fourth quarter execution for the most part hasn't been there. We need to clean that up, but that should come with time. I just hope it happens early enough in the season that we don't miss out on the playoffs because of our record.

The month of November schedule looks much more advantageous.

I appreciate the civility from you three.

All that I'll say is there's no room for panic this early in the season. Guys we're not even to 10 games yet. Concern? Yes. There needs to be concern because that'll lead to more urgency. Panic? No way! That'd mean something drastic needs to change, someone needs to get fired or traded or something big like that. Changes need to be made to their approach and their aggressiveness. We need to be more comfortable in our roles.

I think a big problem early on is Ball/Rondo finding their roles not only in the team but with each other. I think it's been hard for Kuzma to float around unsure of his position. I think the suspensions really hurt. We need more time to gel.

I think the team makeup is pretty awful. Too much redundant talent, and the nightmare scenario is occurring. Nobody is separating themselves from the pack.

Every game someone new shines, and that’s ok I guess, but it makes it challenging for any coach to roll out consistent lineups and minutes.

I don’t think it’s working. And I’m not sure that’s Luke’s fault. The defense is though!
