Well it was good to see him playing his natural stretch four position. I was really worried that this season would end up crushing his confidence as small, speedy SFs absolutely had their way with him. Kelly is not a SF at all and I think he proved that well enough through the first 70 or so games of this season... As a stretch four last night he played well though! He had 16/5/2 with a block and two steals. He's clearly not starting material either for a good team because his defense/rebound work was just not up to snuff for a great team. He may have reminded me though that he can still be an effective NBAer as a bench guy who stretches the floor and surprises people around the rim with his length. I'd still trade him to move up in the draft and to clear room for Ed Davis, but I'm liking what I saw last night. Hopefully he keeps up the good work.
Looked much more comfortable, that's for sure. But out of our bigs, he's one I have no problem saying goodbye to this off season (along with Hill and Sacre). If dumping him means we can afford Davis or Boozer, I move him. If it affords more PT for those two, Randle, or Black; I move him.
Definitely. If Kelly can be used to move up the draft from #26 or wherever the pick ends up, I do it without hesitation. I'd welcome back Davis and/or Boozer on good, reasonable deals and if that means cutting ties with Kelly then so be it. I just wanted to say it looked much, much better for him out there at PF where he belongs.
I'm on the other side when it comes to moving Kelly, especially if it is to keep Snoozer. Boozer will get at least 5 million from a team to come off the bench. His defense is awful, his rebounding is average, but he can still score and teams will pay for that. We can use our funds elsewhere. Kelly is a perfect stretch 4 making peanuts. If we have Randle/Black/Davis/____ he is a perfect complement to those guys + Okafor?Jordan? some center we pick up. He can play in certain situations against certain matchups.
Yeah, it actually makes me happy to hear Steve is helping these young Lakers. Give the man a coaching contract! I'd love to have him on board here for that. Makes sense with how well we treated him. Would be great to have him on staff.

I do want to keep Davis though, personally. But Booz doesn't make much sense here. I'm not as anti-Booz as some, but I don't really see him here going forward.
I'm with you on that. I just would be fine if we can use him to move up the draft a little bit. If Kelly is here again, that's not a bad thing.
Just like so many guys I'd welcome him for the right price. He's been a good teammate, a professional, and he's done whatever we've asked of him. If he was willing to come here for a reasonable price I'd definitely take him up on it.

I meant to come in here and give the dude props after the Philly game. He's REALLY come alive again as a stretch four. When he was getting punked all year by guys like Chandler Parsons I was nervous he'd lose heart. Kelly still has it and I'm glad he's still here. This was a hell of a play:
I still like him, I think he's a decent bench stretch 4 to have for cheap. Of course he's going to look slow and bad starting as a 3, but at his natural position he belongs in the league.
I'd like to see him rebounding more. I know he's an outside shooter offensively, but he can grab some defensive rebounds at least. Yesterday he had 1 rebound and 4 fouls and he played 30 minutes. That's not going to cut it.
