Can't be said enough how bad we need a backup C. Brandan Wright, bring back Tarik Black, hell just get someone who can rim protect and dunk.

Kuzma at C is something Byron would do...

DId anyone else notice the defensive butter fingers? There were multiple occasions where we jumped a passing lane beautifully but bobbled the ball right back to Portland. Same thing with some defensive rebounds. We boxed out and got hands on the ball but fumbled it.

How can our front office and basketball talent evaluators choose Frick and Frack

At the very, very least Brook should have been here and McGee and Him sold on the "team" mantra with starting and minutes determined by matchups and size of opponents' front lines. Horrible decision. Negates so much good the scouts do. And so much easier to evaluate guys who are already in the f****** league with track records.

As bad as the 3 pt shooting was, that's not the only type of shooting. We made 7 threes and 4 mid range jumpers. Everything else was dunks and layups. That's pretty impressive, actually, that we're getting that many easy looks. But let's not pretend bad shooting only means 3 pt shooting. We need to hit midrange shots too. We hit 4....

I don't read too much into the three-point shooting since it's not like we're going to go 0-15 to start every game. That's an anomalous night even for a crappy three-point shooting team. Maybe chalk it up to young guys playing with opening night butterflies in a very tough arena.

What bothered me more than anything was watching our players (the ones not named LeBron) constantly driving into traffic and forcing up shots against multiple (and in most cases, taller) defenders. That's just bad decision-making, and it makes me worry about our coaching.

The two are partially related in this case. Since we couldn't shoot, they packed the paint. We lost confidence in our jumpshooting and instead forced up shots in traffic like you said.

Yep, and Lebron doesn't work best like that. I really hope this doesn't take Luke 20 games to figure out...

Obviously the three point shooting was miserable, starting 1 for 17 won't get it done. Also the fourth quarter execution was lousy although that's to be expected I think from a team that has so many new players and is trying to develop their chemistry. Oh yeah and KCP sucks.

Everything is going to get better over time. But the reason we lost last night were two main things:

    1) Rebounding. By far the most frustrating thing for me last night because we stopped them many guys and but giving them 21+ second chance points and not closing the defensive possession with rebounds is so deflating. I'm always going to be concerned about this going forward especially when McGee isn't on the court.

    2) Poor Execution on Offense when not in Transition and especially in that 4th quarter with all the turnovers. Many of those were just not being familiar with where players like the ball but we can't have those when the game was as tight as it was with trying to get stops.

I'm not worried about the 3point shooting. That was god awful but the looks we were getting for the most part I'm happy with.

We won't miss 15 three point shots in a row again this year.

It baffles me that we still suck at making free throws. There are other pressing issues, but to me, this is/should be the easiet to correct.

It's smart to stay off ESPN and the national media for today. They are so stupid when it comes to knowing what this team is and isn't. I have plenty of people like Pete on twitter that cover the team on a daily basis that I go to for insight on what things we need to get better at or analysis. Hell anyone at the The Athletic that covers the Lakers is better at knowing what is going on and how to fix the the team than the general sports media that cover all sports nationally.

Hmmm...I feel like the media is being pretty kind considering everything they said would happen happened. Most are showing restraint, probably afraid of jinxing it.

Who knew that this guy was right after suggesting 4 on 5 defense so you could outlet pass to a man down at the hoop. Nick f***en Stauskas. Nick rocks, as does any player given that much room.

F*** NBA refs, f*** James Harden, f*** Chris Paul, and f*** Mike ‘Antoni for starting this BS basketball being played today. Also, LeBron is in top preseason form, they weren’t kidding about his defense being bad, wow. He’s finishing games (and layups) like his mind is on his next movie or tv episode. Sorry, but it’s going to take Kobe level effort to make me like this guy.

    13 made jumpers. 5 midrange, 8 threes.

Lebron at center was worse than kuz. We need a backup big to play. Put in Zu maybe?

For the love of everything, play McGee down the stretch Luke.

We need size and a reliable outside shooter. That statement surprises no one at this point.

    Play McGee Luke!

CP3 and Harden had 24 fts combined. We had 18 as a team.
