Yeah but c’mon. No comparison. Deng had a four year deal and DID. NOT. PLAY.

KCP helped land us LeBron and has a one year deal.

Oh no doubt he landed us Lebron. I've already gone on record here as saying his contract was the price of business in order to get Lebron. I'm just whining moaning and complaining that he's turning into the next Deng with his bloated money for level of production. Deng played (not last year) he just totally sucked. KCP is starting to go down that road for me . . . huge money ($30 million two years thus far) and not much production. I hate his body language right now and I hate his shooting (lack of) even more. His D has completely disappeared. I am extremely disappointed and was thinking he would up his game with Lebron here not completely regress. There's no excitement or urgency with his play at all. He looks satisfied to have been paid and that's it. Hart meanwhile is giving it his all.

    It's the preseason LJ.

Plus he is playing for his next check being on that 1yr deal. He'll show up during the season...if not, then Bron/Paul will surely light him up.

If this dude gained us lines into Bron & possibly AD, that's an investment that's completely worth it imho.

I would liken it to the lord showering us with manna from the heavens.

I know Vash, it's only preseason. Still, I had a bad feeling during preseason when I saw Pau Gasol stinking it up during Phil's last year, and I couldn't put my finger on what was wrong with him. Turns out he had a stinker year and a total collapse in the playoffs against Dallas so I was right. There was something so off about him, all beginning with his attitude in the preseason. So I wouldn't completely discount my intuition on this.

KCP is phoning it in. Nothing's wrong with him physically. He BETTER show up this season because he's getting paid large money to do so as our second highest paid player. Yes, it's all worth it to get Lebron, no doubt. That was the price of doing business. But I'm salty that he's playing like garbage and doesn't appear to actually care. He's too young to be doing that. And like you said he needs a new contract with someone. Don't think it will be us going forward, so maybe that's why he's lallygagging.

To me, the biggest preseason disappointment has been Kuzma. I know it's a small sample size, and Luke is playing with different lineups/positions, but I thought Kuzma was going to explode out of the gate and show all the growth he (hopefully) made in the offseason. So far, we haven't really seen anything like that. I'm confident he'll step up in short order, but I wanted to see more over these four games.

yeah, i think he's pressing because he was expecting the same. i do think his body looks better, as does his burst, but his shot is off and he's not letting the game come to him like he did last year. hopefully, the right folks get in his ear to fix it. rondo getting on him for breaking off that play was a good thing, imo. that message needs to be sent...hard...to everyone.

    Yeah it's a sketchy premise.

I agree with KCP giving us lines to taking with Rich Paul last year to avoid tampering charges.. but KCP didn't lock up Bron for us. That was his family. They wanted to live here and play prep ball here. Savannah and Bronny Jr are the co-conspirators in this little take of }cLeaveLand deception.

If it was for the Klutch player angle, then Paul would have forced us to throw money at Nerlens...I mean dude is a defensive center and had vacant minutes to earn here. But that didn't happen...

So lets stop with all this Bron is on a 47m deal this year...uh no and KCP's toddler and wife can attest to that.

Lakers have definitely buttered up lebron' folks by paying kcp. Helped rectify their huge mistake in turning down detroit's big offer.

No way it didn't factor, imo.

    Boom! Absolutely.

I just thought KCP would be stoked to play with Lebron and up his game. So far I've seen nothing in that direction, and actually the exact opposite. He looks like crap and his attitude/body language have not been good at all and I don't understand why. He needs to play for his next contract too as Vash mentioned. It's disappointing so far. I was just whining about it because that's been my biggest takeaway thus far from pre-season. Everyone else looks ready to work except Zo of course because Walton hasn't let him. Not a big Lance fan myself but he's trying. Beasley is too.

I'm not giving up on KCP yet, but he needs to get it together. Otherwise, I guess we'll see a lot more Hart and Lance, and honestly that's fine with me too. Maybe KCP is acting bummed because he's not being given the starting role automatically, but Luke has been very straight up about all starting positions up for grab (except Lebron) determined by how folks play and I'm happy with that.

@abeer3 If we gave KCP a multi-year deal, I feel then it would have been a tandem signing for Bron.

If anything, the KCP deal is a wink wink for AD, knowing that Paul had dude in the pipeline to become a Klutch klient. Then if you think about Nerlens Noel, maybe they knew LA was going to gun for a starting Klutch kenter, so Noel should head elsewhere.

I just don't think Bron balks at LA if we decided to have KCP head elsewhere. We were willing to bring him back, but wanted to pair Bron with a legit 2nd max down the line. Otherwise why have him on a 12m deal...we had enough cap for about a 2nd max type contract. If KCP was the key to having Bron sign, we coulda offered much more than the 12m we gave him... especially on a 1yr deal.

@lakerjones thx for clarifying bro and I didn't intend to just target you with the KCP comments. I hope your intuition is wrong about him, but you're right in his current play...dude does seem to be doggin it...I just hope it's cause it's the preseason and he's playing back into shape.

Kuzma is not a center. It's like putting Lonzo at the 4 spot. Not going to work.

Thanks Vash! Yeah, I agree with you about everything you are saying here. Here's hoping we can nab AD too. KCP won't be back next year I believe, but we did Klutch a favor by picking him up once again. I also think that Bron probably comes here regardless at the end of the day but us doing KCP right didn't hurt.

Us signing KCP was a clear olive branch to Klutch and LeBron. It provided us the leverage as well to talk to Paul as much as we wanted to. Had we not done that, we'd have no legal way to reach LeBron and garner an underatanding. This connection is going to have a massive connection to Davis as well. We really shouldn't downplay that.
