I have a hunch :Chewie: and Moe are going to do really well this year off the bench backing up Javale's limited starting minutes when LeBron isn't put there to pick on skinnier kids.

I’m really impressed by Presti over the last two seasons. I thought after Durant left they were just going to fall apart with RW leaving but last season he turned some left overs into Melo and PG and got a long term commitment from Russ.

This off season everyone was saying PG would leave and they’d be left with only Melo and RW stinking the place up or they’d have to trade Adams to lower the tax if PG resigned. Well I think for a second season in a row, Presti has really improved the team while taking off almost 100m off their tax debt.

He traded the ghost of Melo for a legit 6th man of the year candidate in Schröder and a 10.9m TPE they can use to get another asset over the season. They resigned PG and Grant, signed Noel and drafted well. They also employed a shooting coach and being a great player development team should see some significant progress in the games of Ferguson, Abrines, Grant and the rookies.

    Westbrook / Schroder / Felton
    Roberson / Abrines / Ferguson
    George / TLC
    Patterson / Grant
    Adams / Noel

They improved their biggest weaknesses: some offence off the bench and a backup defensive C capable of spelling Adams for 12-18 mins a game while keeping their defensive principles. They’ll be one of the top defensive teams in the league again with Roberson, George, Grant and Patterson on the wings and Adams and Noel at C. Not many teams have 6 positive defenders like that. Also the new PnR off the bench with Schröder and Noel will be deadly against second units and give a huge scoring pop to the bench.

During the playoffs they’ll have an 8 man rotation of:

    Westbrook (24) / Schroder (24)
    Roberson (36) / Westbrook (12)
    George (36) / Grant (12)
    Patterson (30) / Grant (18)
    Adams (36) / Noel (12)

There is a good chance they could package Abrines with the TPE and get someone like Kyle Korver for some more shooting with no change to their tax bill. With one more shooter, they’ll effectively max out the potential of their team behind the combo of Westbrook, PG and Adams. I think that’s good enough to be a top 3 team in the west.

Dude will be regarded a genius for getting off Ryan’s contract, but let’s not forget who gave him that contract.

    Who wins this trade?

Looks like Houston does to a total of just over 10 mil over 2years. And from a performance perspective, Knight vs Ryan you can weigh those yourself, neither are killing it let's say. Both of the other pieces can be dumped next summer by both teams. Knight and Ryan's contracts each run one more year.

I remember when we wanted Ryan. Think of all the players that went bad that we wanted. Maybe it was a good thing when no one would talk to Mitch and Jim.

Damn, Anderson traded. Now it's time for someone to save us from Deng.

i'm not a huge chriss fan, but he's a highly regarded prospect in some circles. headscratcher for phx. they're taking on more salary for the same amount of years and trading down in terms of prospects.

they must really hate knight. he's been bad at times, but anderson was considered the second-worst contract in the league.

That's a nice trade for Suns. Pairing a defensive minded young prospect in Melton with Booker is good. Melton looked great in Summer League. Melton may not play with Booker often because he's not a PG, and they already have many SFs but those defensive minded players are good to have.

Didn’t Knight tear his ACL? If so, I could see why they’d want to rid themselves of him.

    Loved this.

"So next summer the Lakers will have LeBron, (at least) four starting caliber players on rookie deals (Lonzo, Ingram, Kuzma, Hart), two intriguing shooters entering their 2nd year (Wagner, Svi), all their future 1sts, $38M in cap, and Magic Johnson pitching FAs. Is that good?"

Magic isn't who we thought he was. He's better!

Rob Pelinka is the executor in this 18 month run with Magic being the task master. Jeanie hiring Rob Pelinka will go down as one of the best hires of the decade when the Lakers win a title.
