Gail Goodrich, mainly because he's a lefty, likes to shoot J's (I think), plays decent PG but really an SG.

No Slack by Michael Cooper, my good buddy loaned that to me. Great read! 21XqocGBWLL._BO1,204,203,200_.jpg

Me neither GCC. Never seen this one. BTW anyone watch the epic NBA TV Lakers day? I taped a bunch and re-watched the Magic rookie year Finals performance game 6 vs. Philly. One thing that really stood out was not only Magic's greatness and Cooper's tenacity but, wow, Jamaal Wilkes was just so incredible. It's weird how forgotten he's become. He's such an effortless scorer. John Wooden when asked to describe the ideal basketball player said: "I would have the player be a good student, polite, courteous, a good team player, a good defensive player and rebounder, a good inside player and outside shooter. Why not just take Jamaal Wilkes and let it go at that." Hard to argue with the greatest coach of all time. Lost in Magic's mind-blowing performance of 42, 15 and 7 playing Center at times in place of Kareem is that Wilkes himself had a 37 point 10 rebound showing! What a combo.

Bill Russell once said that Goodrich was the one player that drove him crazy because he could never time and get his shot... Led the 1972 Lakers in playoff scoring.

Watching those early games...no one dribbled much between the legs or behind the back. Not that they weren't slick back then just more simple. Yes, Wilkes was smooth and silent. Erving once said you can easily lose track of him and he'll have 20 to 25 points easy. That signature "twenty foot lay-up" as Hearn used to call his shot.

After Coop's retirement, didn't identify with any one particular player. Ariza for a spell since I liked how he played defense with timely steals and hitting threes. Unfortunately, he was only with the Purple and Gold for two short years.

I was prime Kobe on defense when Kobe turned on his defense, except that was the strength of my game and I would hound the best player on the other team the entire game Long.

It was this game that was my inspiration to always play like that.

On offense I was not kobe at all lol, I was Brian Cook. Just a spot up perimeter shooter.

    Coooooooop!

Didn’t like I.T., but respected his game. Had to be tough in those days, and at 6 feet tall on the Pistons, in the East, he had to be really tough. Much respect.

The shorter players I checked or tried to check emulated Thomas back in the day... Usually with speed to burn, slick ball-handling. If they can shoot on top of it made for a long day. Did a lot of hand checking... :)

Early in my event video career I was shooting a wedding reception of my own booking at the Balboa Bay Club in Newport Beach. It was game 1 of the 1988 Dodgers vs Oakland WS. All evening long I kept ducking into the bar area to check up on the score and how that game progressed. And being in the early days to have some beer myself. By the time Gibson hit his home run I was pretty buzzed and went out of my gourd. The reception was basically over and I was high as a kite on that moment. I was asking strangers walking out to my car if they heard what happened.

It wasn't until halfway home on the freeway terror set in when I realized I had left all of my camera gear over in the corner I had been working from and only taken one of the bags.

Had a happy ending though when I called the number I had for the event coordinator around 12:30AM and was told someone from the bridal party spotted the gear and took it with them. What a sports moment!!! What a dufus!!!
