    If Tim Duncan changed teams, it's unlikely the fan base of whose team he was joining would have such outrage.

    So, no, of course it's not Lebron's fault, but he's generally recognized worldwide as an egotistical douche and is a polarizing figure. Some athletes garner this kind of attention, and others don't. I'm sure some would have reacted the same way if Kobe changed teams tbh.

    It was a bit premature, but I'm sure it was good publicity for the place regardless. They likely knew it would happen. Might have even been relying on it for free publicity.

    I know I'd have been expecting it. And if I didn't want it to happen, I'd have had security.
