He never really said anything. The media just ran with a non-story because everyone is thirsty for more NBA news right now. I don't know why everyone was making a big deal out of it.

As for the Kings, yes please. Take this 2019 1st (Top 5 protected) and we'll give you Luol Deng. We'll throw a couple 2nds in as well.

That snippet for the Kings is basically describing Deng. Lets do it!

I'm not upset about the media....I'm upset with the resident Savvami...that orange bastard's prophecy better come true. Bron, Dame and Kawhi....that's just perfect with only AD replacing Dame as THE ultimate trio.

The banana boat will be inflated in either Houston or Lakers lol. My bet is both Wade and Melo's coming to LA.... with the possibility of Bosh somehow being a assistant coach or something lol:

My mind and body couldn't take Melo taking the playing time of any of our young, promising players.

    I would take Melo in a Dengdump/future 2nds...

Just another enigmatic player for Luke to lose more hair over.

    (Jumps into DeLorean)

Live look at Luke in October...

They are trying to dumb Melo to save money on taxes, why would they take Deng? Unless your talking about a 3 team deal.

I would much rather have Deng on this team than Melo.

Can’t see Melo being willing to take a small role here.

Given the choice between us and the Rockets, I can't see him going back to D'Antoni. Not sure we'd take him though. I really hope not.

There's no great incentive for the Thunder to do that though. You could swap Deng for Carmelo and save a couple million on the annual cost, but you're doing it for 5 years instead of 3 years.

The teams that would trade for Carmelo are the same teams we're trying to dump Deng to. Nobody has the cap space to fully absorb him, but someone like Atlanta or Sacramento or Chicago could send back a cheaper player that's easier to waive for Carmelo and a 1st round pick. That might be helpful actually in setting a market price for Deng's dump. If it's just one 1st, I could see the Lakers doing it even now so we could clear cap space and give a big one-year deal to someone.

Ironically it's a perfect fit for him though. Isolation heavy, no defense required at his spot.

We're a terrible fit for him: lots of ball movement, emphasis on defense. Yeesh.

If there was ever a perfect tweet to represent one of my many worries or concerns why I don't want Melo here:

DO NOT WANT that around our young players.

@Battle Tested20 OKC has to sign one more player since they are at only 13 on the roster and can't average less than 14 over the last 3 summers. Last summer, they headed into Oct with 13 on the roster. So assuming they add a vet min, their looking at more than 160m in team salary so that's 36m over the tax threshold (124m).

With Melo unstretched: 150m in taxes
With Deng unstretched: 94m in taxes

The trade off is Deng's 19/20 salary vs Melo's expiring deal this year...but the tax bill saving will be tremendous considering Melo makes 10m more than Deng... And next year's tax threshold projects to be a 7m spike (131m vs 124m this year).

I would only take Melo if he's willing to take the MLE and coming off the bench.

I kind of feel like he is destined to be here unfortunately, but I do not see how he fits. Not only his play style, but we already have a lot of wings.
