We'll have that problem NO MATTER WHAT we trade for Kawhi. I don't think San Antonio is taking Deng under any circumstances. Maybe that's an argument for not trading for Kawhi in the first place. Or who knows, maybe the Spurs COULD find their way to taking Deng and that should factor into what we package with him to get Kawhi. But I was specifically addressing the question of which assets I'd be willing to give up to get him. And on that narrow question, my answer is everything.

The Spurs won't take Deng because they aren't r*******. Simple as that.

You don't trade away the 2nd best player in the NBA and accept a radioactive contract in return. I'll refuse to believe that this is even remotely possible.

Easy. Find a dump site for him (Atlanta). Give Atlanta the picks and SA gets the young players. Probably Bazemore or Schoder too.

Never noticed, but he looks a lot like a fatter, darker Kuz.

Aaron Gordon is probably better than Randle and has more upside...so if he gets $20M, then Randle gets a little bit less than that. No way he gets close to the $25.4M...

I've never understood the infatuation with Gordon. I'd take Randle over him today, tomorrow, and for the next 10 years.

Matthews was almost dealt on draft night and there is a Dallas floated rumor that its going to be Matthews (18M) that gets traded for an opted-in DJ (24M)...trade doesn't work salary wise, but Dallas does have cap to absorb the additional salary difference.

If Dallas does this, then they essentially have 15M still in cap space and can get up to 20M if they decline Dirk's option (5m) and just re-up him with the room exception (4.6M)....so essentially they would have enough cap to go after Jules still.

yeah, dallas renounced mcbuckets' rights to gain negotiating power in a trade scenario with the clips. looks like west is holding out, though, or else i think this would have been done. unless they're quibbling about extra compensation (2nd rounders, i'd imagine).

Why would the Clippers take Matthews though? There's zero need for him...

I guess if they're getting a 1st round pick attached then it makes sense...

Also, Mavs could be trying to do a DJ/Cousins pairing along with Dennis Smith/Luka/Barnes. That's afctually not a bad team at all...

Heck if they make a run at Randle and get DJ...DJ/Randle/Barnes/Luka/Smith is still a very nice core...
