I actually believe there's a small chance we get DeMarcus Cousins....and we'll give up Deng and 2 firsts to New Orleans in a S&T to make it happen or we'll dump Deng somewhere and sign DMC outright to a 1-year "prove it" deal. Oh, we'll also have LeBron and PG on the team already....and we'll sign Randle over the cap....and we'll sign Lopez, IT2 and Bradley to minimum/room exception type deals...

Yup, I'm ready for Boogie/LeBron/PG13. Let the C Bags take Kawhi Leonard and let's have the most lit NBA finals matchup of all time with the two most storied franchises in NBA history.

I really think it’s impossible to dump Deng anywhere at this point. If we were unsuccessful on draft night to dump him, we just lost an asset in the 25th pick to attach to the Deng contract to try to entice another team. So instead of 25th + another future 1st rounder (probably 2020 1st), now we can offer the 2019 pick and 2021 pick. Why would another team rather do that deal instead of getting the pick this year?

Cuz our picks in the far future are more likely to be more valuable than our picks this year or next?

No way anyone is taking Deng without a talent coming with him. Lakers are going to have to finish the last 2 years.

It seems true unfortunately. It took D’Angelo Russell to get rid of Mozgov, and then it took Dwight Howard AND Mitch being the GM receiving him to get rid of Mozgov again. And Mozgov is a living, breathing human being at this point.

That signing was so bad, it actually surpassed 12:01. I dont understand, till this day, why that idiot and Mitch gave these guys 4 years guaranteed. I just cant figure out what the hell they were thinking.

LeBron, George, and Randle is my ideal scenario obviously, but man I can’t imagine if Deng could be moved for “only” 2 first round picks that he wouldn’t be gone already. Deng is going to cost us Randle if LeBron and PG do indeed come to LA, and that sucks, but it’s a pretty good tradeoff if you still have Lonzo, Ingram, Kuzma, and Hart.

Yes, why would anyone care about 2 Laker 1st round picks that will likely be 26-30th. Maybe we can promise to do the scouting for the team. I doubt that would work but it ought to increase their value to some teams. I've heard other anaylists suggest that one of our core youths would have to be moved as well (Larry Coon in fact who I trust a lot more than this guy) I also am not sure how the money works on Jules in his example. He is showing his cap hold (12mil) in calculating our total cap but Jules will definitely be signed for more. He says we can exceed the cap so if I understand him correctly, lets just say we could move Deng however, then we could sign Randle to whatever amount as long as we are under the cap by even a few dollars before we sign him?

Also if in that case it takes giving up a core youth (BI, Zo, Kuz, Hart) and picks to offload Deng then I'm afraid I would let Randle walk instead because those guys are on team friendly contracts. It hurts but it's hard enough to sign LBJ and PG.

I don't know man, it looks like he got dragged through Russel Westbrook's wardrobe backwards covered in crazy glue, and that is how he turned out.

Based on the cap numbers they used, if we needed cap space to get both LeBron and PG, and we can’t offload Deng to a willing team...

It sounds like we would have to stretch Deng while also lose Randle to get the other 30 mil we need to sign PG.

After we sign LeBron, we would have 11mil in cap space, renounce Randle (+12 mil), stretch Deng (+10 mil) = 33 mil approximately in space for a 2nd max player.

    F’n Deng.....

That has always been the case.

Our 2nd max slot, assuming we can't move Deng, has always been at the cost of Julius Randle.

If that's the case now give me LBJ and Randle and let's go to war ..... with scheming additionally on Kawhi for next off season after he proves he is the same guy. I will keep Ingram and Randle over PG thank you very much.

Or something along Rob and Magic working magic with Randle along these lines as KH suggests ....

On draft night I thought there was no way the Suns sent an unprotected pick to move from 16 to 10... They had to put some protections on it, right?

May you continue to rot Phoenix. It's s***ty teams like this that kill our chances of moving Deng unless we add serious pick compensation.

In order to open up max type cap for Kawhi next summer while going 2max this year is to combo Jules to Deng for an expiring (ie DJ type contract) imho. You can still strongly compete while still being in play for Kawhi. I know it's not ideal but you have to consider adding Kawhi if it's a possibility and that is why I think Magic mentioned the 2 summer scenario. They want to trade for Kawhi if possible, but don't want to be taken to the shed by the Spurs to do so... And that's implying that the Spurs decide to play ball in the first place.

I mean that'd be great, but still technically wouldn't fit with the "two max" concept.

Between Ball, Ingram, Kuzma, Hart, Wagner, Julius QO, one of Zubac or Bryant, and Svi, we're looking at 29.7 million. If we waive Deng, that's an extra 7.4 million and we're at 37.1 million. Add LeBron at 35.4 million, that brings us to 71.64 million.

We're at 29.4 million, just shy of what we need for George. If we waive Bryant we're about 200k short still. Very close, but will George take that cut?

I expect Julius to sign the sheet that offers him the most money and I'm okay with that. He worked his butt off, he deserves the money.

This tough to even talk about but if it means keeping Randle I would include Hart in that deal. This is if we HAD TO include a young prospect with Multiple Future 1st Round picks. Randle is way too important for us if we want to go deep in the playoffs and play a small ball lineup in spurts, or crucial times than Hart would be coming off the bench.
