Chris Sheridan, who apparently had speculated Lebron to Miami before it happened, reported Lebron’s return to Cleveland before the SI article, and reported in August 2017 that Lebron is definitely leaving, had some interesting stuff to stay on Twitter last night.

Basically he’s sticking to his guns about his report from August that Lebron’s relationship with Cleveland’s ownership is irreparable and Lebron is definitely gone. He’s implying LA is the choice and reiterated that CP3 believes Lebron has already made this decision.

He’s also saying Paul George isn’t necessarily vital in Lebron’s decision making. Sheridan expressed confidence in Pelinka to utilize the second max slot to bring in another star regardless of George’s decision. But implied that it doesn’t necessarily need to be used on another UFA. Could be via RFA or trade.

Also expressed that if Lebron is set on LA, our opening night roster isn’t as important to him as our roster on March 1st. Implied that we could be active at trade deadline but more likely there might be some high profile buyouts that would love to come ring chasing with Lebron. Mentioned Melo by name specifically.

I’m kinda paraphrasing here because he had a lot of tweets and back-and-forth with followers, so you may want to read through his timeline yourself. Some interesting stuff.

Guess he doesn't have equal confidence that Rob is not stupid.

Melo. Who are we giving up for Melo. Fans would burn Staples to the ground. Sheesh.

In that instance Melo would likely be a buyout candidate, not a trade candidate.

This lines up with things that Windhorst started saying: LeBron to LA is a better than 50/50 shot without someone. If you add someone (Paul George), I think it's a 100% shot.

Honestly, looking at the Vegas lines, I think there's already a lot going on behind the scenes that sets up the LA move. Things that only industry people would be privy to, but are clear indicators. Contracts, locations, promises made on the production side of his entertainment business, that kind of stuff.

We'd have to pay him some tiny millions over other teams though right, or not? And whose minutes?

I have no idea the minutes situation, but there's likely to be minutes as a backup wing. I know he said he wouldn't do it, but we'll see.

    We'd pay him the minimum.

Yeah, Melo for the minimum as some extra bench ammunition heading into the playoffs would not be a bad move at all. Especially with Lebron to keep him in check, and the inevitable backlash that Melo will feel all year in OKC, I think he’d eventually come around to a bench role if it meant getting to play in LA with Lebron. Plus he’d be fighting for a new contract and to prove he’s still worth an NBA roster spot.

I'd take Melo if OKC took Deng and fillers. No one of major significance. OKC could save 9 million this next year if they if they run into lux tax issue.

The player hate some of y'all have is so utterly ridiculous, I can't take it seriously. I'm sorry. I understand the max deal hate, but....

IT, Cp3, Melo, Dwight, Rondo... basically any "namer" on a vet min or an exception is a "pull the trigger, ask questions later type transaction."

I enjoy the hating, the trolling, the extreme posturing by fans...but y'all know deep down, that the rang is the thang! The winning will help you bottle up all that haterade, so that we can use it for a victory splash on your "favorite" player in June.

No Melo. And it would be an awesome addition by subtraction. Or rather non-addition. I'd rather Kuzma get all of his minutes. Or BI. OR Moe.

Melo, at this point, is dead spot. Especially as far as defense and ball sharing go.

It is absolutely not an "ask questions later" type of situation, it is as much about culture and fit as anything else.

There will be plenty ring chasers, who are not idiots and lazy Melos.
