I should have never said something like “the athleticism isn’t there” when talking about him draft day. He is athletic, I think what I was meaning more to say was the strength isn’t there, that’s what I meant when talking about athleticism and defense lacking. Not that he can’t move quickly and fluidly or anything, but he isn’t a bruiser. In college he got a lot of hustle boards and scores at the rim against smaller players. In the real league he’ll have to pump fake more down there, learn to stand his ground on d, put on some more muscle to battle for boards, that sort of thing. I know the league isn’t full of hulking bigs anymore, and a lot of PFs now actually have his body type but if you’re skinner and not a big leaper you still have to know how to use your strength and play crafty or you get abused like Zu did this season. I think he can contribute off the bench pretty quickly, but it will still be an adjustment for him.
He’s white, so it’s a pretty big deal just to get drafted. Proud of you bro. Represent. And remember, if you see LLLLLLebron, you have six fouls. Feel free to lay some wood on him.
Man, this dude is hard to evaluate from the highlight clips. I'll have to reserve judgement until I see him play in summer league against better competition.
Shhhh, don’t speak it into existence But even then, yes. Hopefully he only signs a 1 year deal and doesn’t want to come back after the fellas all nickname him p****
I agree with this. His strength is going to be an issue in the NBA at times, especially against 5s. If this was the 90s, Moe might be a 7 foot SF just because he can't really bang inside. When he's had to defend big, strong guys Moe really struggled. He tries to use that speed and length to get around, but he tends to get sealed deep in the paint. Then his average length makes it easy to finish over him at the rim for NBA bigs. His best bet is to put some strength in his core and legs. Hopefully they start working on that right away.
I mean, he put up some pretty solid games during the tournament. Can’t get any better competition than that at his level.
His body looks like one that should be able to bulk up a little bit. I hope Gunner was at his door Friday morning after the draft.
This is fantastic information. Thanks. Defense is the question mark...at the very least, hope he's decent. If so, I think might we might have another "steal" on our hands.
Mirotic is a very interesting comp. Dude ended up breathing new life into the Pelicans after the trade deadline. I can see the similarities between the two.
