The bolded quote reads to me like: "Players want to be here, if you aren't willing to work with us to trade, we'll just sign them." Also why is Memphis getting crap thrown at them? We gave them Marc who ended up being a huge part of their recent playoff run. Its not like we just took pau and sent them to the bottom of the league.
I LOVED hearing from Rob how much they value our young core and the team culture that is developing with them. How great was it that Rob and Magic listened to input from Kuz and Hart about their impression of Moe Wagner’s workout? Something special is cooking here.
I loved the very last quote from the video where Bill Orem asking Rob about Lonzo. Rob didn't have to take the question because their PR person said that was it and goodnight but Rob said it wasn't a big deal to have one more question. He gave a real thoughtful answer and we learned a ton of behind the scenes stuff that Lonzo is doing with Magic (1 hour a week video sessions), how he likes to just come into Luke's or Rob's office and talk about the off-season work he's doing and what they think about certain things. That kind of maturity and leadership wasn't there a year ago. Being proactive about getting better and not just doing it yourself but seeking out opinions and just wanting to talk basketball. Here is the exact video quote:
The key thing I took away from Rob’s interview was wanting the Lakers to have “sustainable success”. I take that to mean he’s not interested in mortgaging all our young talent for just a 2-3 year championship run. Exactly what I wanted to hear.
Absolutely. Thanks to Magic and Kobe for that hire; he's done a great job so far. Once I did some due diligence on him; and coming with Kobe's endorsement, it made me much more comfortable. Lawyer, big-time agent, well-spoken, knows the cap inside and out; probably the perfect hire.
The main thing I noticed from it was no Biblical quotes or references. That's good, Rob needs to pull those out for the appropriate moments. No, it was not like when the "Israelites were wandering in the desert and all of sudden bread came down from heaven" when we signed KCP to his deal. That's more fitting a reference if the Spurs did a straight Deng-for-Kawhi + picks trade or if we end up with LBJ, PG and Kawhi this summer. Rob's a good guy, save the big Biblical quotes for the big stuff like when we beat the C-Bags in the finals or sign the Three Amigos.
We were thirsty doe... Kcp was an awesome dice roll and solid player that gave us some initial hope lol. It was truly perfect timing to sign him in a one year and fill the SG void.
They have to because they are at war with the C Bags who are doing the same thing. Long term dominance; always a threat to compete for a championship. Cleveland could have done it, but their front office and ownership sucks.
Hey Rob, they hatin'...even after you cleaned up most of Mitch's mess. Prove them all wrong this year!
